Maybe I need another cup of coffee, but ...
Is the OP price incorrect? This would cost $90 total ($55 for signup/first month + $35 for second month)?

Edit/Addition for future readers (who don't go past the first page):
OP price is correct if you want the phone to use on ST the final cost is just the 1-month plan ($55). My comment about the final price being higher, was for this phone to be unlocked, which would involve purchasing one additional month of service, which would not necessarily need to be the Gold Unlimited plan.

Activated phone when IMEI became available online while the phone is prepped for shipping. Request a new number and it worked for both phones.

This is one of the few phones left in 2025 with a full feature set...

5G Modem.
8GB ram / 128GB rom
OIS on main camera.
5000 mah battery.
QI charging.
SD card slot.
Headphone jack.
IP68 resistance.

This beats out the S25 Ultra and the iPhone 17 pro max in terms of features... for less than $100 each.

In my case, I let the first month expire (because of the unlock policy change in April). It doesn't have to be continuous service.

Not understanding this. The '24 was better (than what) so you'll get the '25?
Thanks! So we can let the plan expire, and then after a day or so, we can then subscribe to the Bronze plan via the Straight Talk website.

For the second month of service to unlock the phone, I believe this phone can be rebranded to be a Tracfone one to signup for their $15/month plan. So after the 1st month of Straight Talk service is over and the line gets suspended, contact Tracfone to rebrand the phone. It doesn't have to be 2 months of continuous service to get the phone unlocked, right?

Yes, that's what I did earlier this year. In fact, somehow, I got a $10 (random) discount added to my cart, too. And don't forget to tick the autopay box, too ($1). You can turn off afterwards.
* checked notes: first month expired 3/15, then bought second month on 4/18.

Wondering the same thing. OP aint adding up right
If you don't need to get it unlocked you can get this thing for 50 bucks. For instance if you were buying this as a portable music player or something. Or you don't have any urgency to unlock it for some reason. Of course I think it's worth paying for the second month just to have it unlocked. But technically speaking you can get this phone for $50. And even if you do end up paying the other 35 you're still only paying $50 up front because the second payment will come later.

Which version, 4G or 5G? It's a pretty big upgrade over the 4G version. Compared to the 5G version, the chipset isn't that much different but the 2025 does have 2-4GB more RAM.

P.S. Forgot to mention the 2025 has OLED display vs LCD on the 2023 models. That's probably the biggest upgrade.
Doesn't even matter which version honestly. This is a big upgrade over the 2023 5G version too (or 2024).

2025 has eSIM, AMOLED Gorilla Glass screen (vs IPS or P-Oled non-Gorilla), ip68 rating (vs "resistant"), tri-band 6e wifi (vs ac), and a larger battery (2024 reportedly has better life even though battery isn't larger).
The 2024 was available with 256gb, unlocked, straight up, for only $200 on a SD and I still have been waiting for the 2025 because of the improvements to the screen, waterproofing, and wireless.

He said based on "features" and he's not wrong. Not many good phones with SD Card slots and headphone jack if that's your jam. The stylus is just a bonus.

Does this have a micro sd slot? 128GB seems to be insufficient these days.

Edit: disregard, didn't realize there were so many pages of comment and found the answer to my question.

I bit on this even though I'm leery of the AMOLED screen (possible green line and PWM issues). FWIW, the MetroPCS version of the 2023 has e-sim (but not the unlocked version).

Where is the $10 low cost plan on Total?
I did that with my Motorola Edge 2024 with $10 plan for the 2nd month. Total Wireless changed the unlocked policy, but I didn't know. After 2 months, mine didn't unlock, so I contacted TW online to buy only $10 plan, then mine unlocked immediately on day 1 of $10 plan.

I only get AMOLED and the only issues I've even remotely experienced are that brightness isn't usually as good (esp outside) and increased chance of burn-in if you run them long enough.
Other than that, I think AMOLED is better (true black, power savings for dark mode, etc) honestly. Hopefully that makes you feel a little better?
Didn't realize any carrier version of the older had e-SIM, I usually check unlocked. Good cal!

After unlocking, this can be run on T-Mobile, att and Verizon, or just Verizon?
