Yep. The Mobile Services app is the culprit that loads/reloads the bloatware. Go to the list of apps (might have to turn on Show System Apps) and disable Mobile Services app first, then disable the bloatware.

Always goes by activation date but not always exactly on 60 days (can vary between 59 to 61 or even 62). Doesn't make sense it would be purchase date since they sometimes have to backorder.

Hm I'm also only seeing the 4 Verizon apps on reboot (appreciate that some other things like Facebook are already disabled out of the box).

I don't have any screen artifacts like others are reporting, but I've noticed that my unit keeps rebooting when *not* in use (about once an hour). I've used it straight for two hours without any issues, but I can't figure out what's causing it (I've already tried factory resetting once, and barely reinstalled anything after the factory reset). I haven't put in the SIM, but although I don't see why that would matter, perhaps it's worth a shot (only using it with home WiFi).

I've been stumped trying to find any one else reporting a similar issue. On the one hand, it doesn't seem to affect my actual use now (especially because I mostly intend to use it as an e-reader), but it seems not great to be glitchy out of the box... I do quite like the screen though.

That is so strange. In any case, since I can't disable those verizon apps (actually more than the 4), I installed a firewall app to block those apps from phoning home and hopefully stop any additional bloatware installs.

I had a similar issue with my tablet. Mine had a permanent red line running across the screen, even during boot up. It was definitely defective hardware (likely a loose ribbon cable).

I tried contacting them via online chat, but it was a nightmare. I went through three different agents because they were so slow—likely handling multiple customers at once. The first agent never called me back as I had to leave the chat after about 45 minutes. The second promised an email with return instructions that never arrived. The third agent asked me to use the return label that should be in the box and take it to UPS or return it at a Verizon store. There is no return shipping label, but a return receipt on the back of the UPS shipping label that was on the outside of the box.

Skip the chat and call them directly. Once I spoke to a person, they emailed me a UPS return label that included an internal ticket number so the warehouse could ship the replacement. I removed my SIM (not activated yet), boxed it up, and dropped it at The UPS Store. Now just waiting on the replacement, which I should expect in the next 30 days.
Wow I thought I'm the only one with a defective device.
I called them and finally transfer me to their "warehouse dept.".
For some reason the UPS label in the email is not popping up, but it does have the TRAC# which I can just give it to UPS at the store, hopefully it works...

Anyone able to help or have tips/tricks? Phone is activated, shows fine on Straight Talk website but when I enter my phone # in the $25 walmart top-up card, it says "Please validate the phone number entered is active with the carrier plan/brand selected." Anyone else have this issue?

Better just paying $15 or $20 for an unlocking service instead of struggling to find a cheap 2nd month refill?

I'm having the same issue. I'm still less than half way to the end of my paid 1st month. Does that matter?

What you need is to add the standard $35 refill for the 2nd month.
That $25 refill is for a different phone plan - looks like "StraightSAVINGS" is a BYOP plan refill and that's why it's not applying.
