Rechargeable ones would bleed energy no? Keep the batteries stored outside of the unit. Heck, go to the dollar store and pick up a set of like 10 batteries or something and toss that in your car with this

Both deals are dead but I wanted to share...

You know how when you buy something that comes preloaded with batteries...
Many times it will have a plastic pull tab that keeps the batteries disconnected.
You just pull out that plastic tab and it slides out of the battery compartment, without opening the battery compartment.
I make my own pull tab for battery operated devices that I don't use very often.
Usually by cutting a sliver of the blister pack so that it will fit down into the battery compartment or a thick plastic bag.

Batteries will expire over time regardless of plastic pull tab or not. Cheap batteries will expire faster. You can get lithiums but they are expensive. Better to wait for a deal on rechargeable ones.
