Where are these made? I have Amazons made in Japan and Amazons made in China. The ones labeled made in Japan definitely last longer and don't get hot when I recharge them. 1 out of 8 of the ones made in China have completely died for some reason and they get noticeably hot when they are recharging.

I use an Xbox controller for a fair bit of my gaming on PC (roguelites and driving games in particular) and these work great for that purpose. Battery life even with near-daily use spans into enough weeks I'd struggle to give an exact estimate, if you charge 4x at a time in a basic USB charger it's such a minor inconvenience overall. Having to properly dispose of regular alkalines becomes more effort, let alone the cost over time. Also great for remotes where the lower voltage means they don't corrode when left for a while, and you just swap them out once a season.

LADDA or bust
LADDA runs $11.99 for 4 at IKEA right now, same NiMH composition and only 50mAh capacity more, what makes them worth almost 4x the price vs this deal?

It says either Malaysia or China, so not eneloops.

I bought a bunch though, been needing some for my kids' toys

These are awful. They're slightly thicker than the average AA battery, and the positive connector is slightly shorter. I had multiple devices where I either had to squeeze the battery into place, and even when I did, the positive connector didn't even reach the contact connector

Basic trash. They lose ability to hold charge after just a year.

The LADDA will last DECADES. Prob worth 10x easy, not even 4x. I have tons eneloops from 20 years ago that still work like brand new.

"Maintains 50% Capacity (Up to 1 year"

It can only hold up to just 50%, within the one year?? Am I reading this correctly?

You read it right. It means if the battery is just set up on a shelf unused, in year's time the battery will still have about half its capacity. The battery will lose charge whether or not you use it.

Good deal or not, it depends on your usage. if you use AA intensively, these are cheap enough to last for awhile. 8 packs of regular AAs would cost you around $3 to $4 already. If you reused these 5 to 6 times, it already recouped your money. You can just ignore these LADDA or Japanese battery only people. They say the same thing over and over again when the Amazon Basics 2400mAh NiMH batteries are on sale.

All rechargeable batteries- NiMh, Li-Ion, Lead Acid - self discharge. They're meant for use, not to stick on a shelf.

Save your money in a few years Sodium Ion will replace all the ancient NiMh technology and they will last decades. In the meantime if you need to buy these, you can save a pretty penny.
I do admit however I have Ladda, eneloops, Amazon Japan, Fujitsu (these are all made in Fujitsu plant) and not a single one has died in over 10 years. But neither has any of the Amazon China ones. I condition them and they are good. Note the single plant in Japan that makes all these is Fujitsu, the rest are relabelled (inc eneloop, ladda, etc).
The issue is that Ladda, eneloop, etc used to be $1 a cell a few years ago now they want $3-$4. The value/cost ratio is no longer there. I have been buying Tenergy Gold Pro for half the price or less and they are JUST as good as the eneloop pro.
So maybe they are a middle ground. I also bought powerowl lithium and they are nowhere near to the charge level they state, not even close. I complained and they comped me back the cost but they are so bad I just put them in my weather clock which needs 1.5V to operate correcly.
These are less than a buck certainly worth it if they last 5+ years which shouldn't be an issue.
Please recycle!
