It looks like metal but the base and hinge are plastic. The hinge is thin and will crack over time. I had the charging version of this, and it developed a crack after 7 months. Check the Amazon reviews, I'm not the only one.

Would this leave a mark on your dash after so long? I'm afraid of it eventually coming off and leaving a mark or damaging the dash.

Im more worried that it wont come off the dash when I sell the car. It's super stuck on the dash.

Ah man, what are the chances, I literally bought this last week at full price. I've had two for quite a while, somehow the kids managed to break the one in my wife's vehicle, so I got a replacement. Still recommend it, especially at this price!
