I really didn't want to post this one because I really wanted one, but my girl says I have too many coffee makers already yesterday, so I have been hesitating in buying one, but I think it is a good deal!

You can make cold brew just fine in a french press, if you don't need it in 25 minutes.

Or any container. Let the grounds steep in cold water for 12-24 hours. Then run it through a funnel with coffee filter into a pitcher/cup

I'd say listen to your girlfriend, dude. I want one too, it does look like a sweet deal, but I couldn't figure out what it does, so I pulled it up on cuisnart's site. It just mechanically pushes coffee through cold water for 25-45 minutes...idk at that point why not just let it steep overnight in a pitcher? ...But now I'm thinking, if it really is effective at extracting enough in 25 minutes, tweaking the minutes would give you a hell of a lot more control over the product than tweaking the duration of "overnight"....dammit now I want it again.

I like that you logically talk about the reasons you want and don't want this product. How human of you.

I for one relate whenever comparing items to purchase. That's it this is certainly not something I need. If I want cold coffee I just pull a shot of espresso and put few ice cube in with it...

only reason I'm here is because I thought for a second it was a cheap conical grinder...

I bought this by mistake a month or two ago on a similar deal thinking it was a regular coffee machine that could brew a pot.
Found out the hard way it's just for cold brew and had thrown the box away by then.

I've used it twice now, and while I'm not necessarily a cold brew fanatic or connoisseur, I can vouch that it makes a very very good version of it. The most important aspect of the taste is that it removes the bitterness that other cold coffees would have (e.g - if you were to brew and then cool down).

note - I've never made cold brew on a french press so I can't speak of how good that would taste.
Basically you add coffee grounds to this filter basket it comes with, then you add cold or room-temperature water, select the "strength" (just changes how long it "brews" for), and start the cycle. All the machine does is spin that coffee grounds filter really fast, which I guess accelerates the production of the cold brew.
