This 98 inch TCL QLED Google TV stands out for its huge screen, 144 hertz refresh rate, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support, and the bundled free large TV mounting service. The Walmart listing is tied to the TCL 98Q651G model, and the TV can be used offline by selecting HDMI without connecting to the internet. The main concerns are that this is the 2024 non mini LED version, the install is handled through Angi, and some orders or shipping options have been unavailable or canceled. It looks like a strong value if you want a giant screen and can handle the logistics.

I'd rate it just above fire TV personally, but yeah, not great. All of them have bloat these days.

I think Sam's Club might be open on Thanksgiving, because they are technically a grocery store. But, the vast majority of places have said that they will be closed on Thanksgiving this year, probably because people can still shop online.
Sam's Club has been closed on Thanksgiving for over a decade, if not longer. And "technically a grocery store" is a really weird thing to say because they are almost identical to Costco, a retailer that has been traditionally closed on both Thanksgiving and Christmas, just like Sam's Club.

Sam's Club is owned by Walmart, which had always been opened on Thanksgiving, until Covid happened. You have a very short memory.

While Walmart does in fact own Sam's Club and Walmart was open on Thanksgiving from the late 80's until 2020, Sam's Club has not been open on Thanksgiving for at least 15 years and does not have the same operating model as Walmart. Sam's Club has been closed on Thanksgiving long before Covid.

For example, in 2017, 3 years before Covid:

Or even all the way back in 2013, 7 years before Covid:

https://www.prnewswire.com/news-r...28131.html

There are even articles back as far as 2010 listing Sam's Club as being closed on Thanksgiving:

Is this basically the same as the 98" TCL Q55K at Best Buy? Different model numbers (Walmart,: 98Q51CG vs.
Best Buy: 98Q55K) but the specs look nearly identical - same 144Hz/288VRR, QLED panel, AIPQ Pro processor, etc.
Main differences I can spot:
Walmart includes free installation (Best Buy doesn't)
Anyone know if these are just retail variants or if there are actual panel/performance differences? At the same price point, free install might tip it toward Walmart for a 100+ lb TV.
This model number from Walmart matches exactly one from the TCL site. The BestBuy one seems to be mysterious. Additionally this TV from walmart appears to weigh about 20 pounds heavier, which I assume is a good thing.

t least Google TV allows sideloading of custom launchers through the "Downloader" app. I put Projectivy launcher on my GVT devices and can customize appearance and never see the bloat.

GTV is just fine if you install a custom launcher like Projectivy to clean things up.

Are any of them good just using them as a TV? I'll never connect a TV to the internet and even go as far as to block it from my network just incase it wants to somehow sneak a connection while hooked up to a media pc. Can I just turn them on and never have to deal with the smart interface garbage? None of my friends use a TV in that manner that I'm aware of so IDK if this is possible. Although I haven't used it in a couple years, I like that my 15+ year old DLP is a stupid tv. Turn on and it's already on hdmi source for the media pc.
Why are you so afraid of being tracked? They're just going to sell your info off to an advertiser, big whoop. If you've done your taxes online or ordered anything online ever, you're probably already cooked. What's funny is, if you go to the doctor, they share your info with their partners and inevitably somebody's data gets breached. You're not safe in 2025, just live your dang life

really? I'm being tracked every where? No way! Thanks! It's less about being tracked and more the desire to not use garbage software (windows is bad enough). I don't need some slow turd interface on my TV. Especially since I won't even be using it. My thinking is if my TV never touches the internet maybe I won't be served any ads. Not sure if ads are only shown in their OS trash or if they pop up on different sources (if they don't probably not long until they do). I like things simple. Currently I push the power button on my PC and then the power button on the remote. My PC, receiver, and TV turn on. I use my mouse to find what I want to watch that's on my HDD on my other PC in the other room, and watch it. Simplicity is another reason why I don't really want to get a new truck. I like buttons and I hate how blinding all these screens are at night.

I have bought tires from Walmart on a previous Black Friday deal. I will happily pay more to purchase tires from another seller after that experience. The customer support at Walmart stores tire departments is horrendous. No one knows anything about the deals and the included mounting and balancing. I had to argue and argue to get the deal that was posted in their ad, even with my online receipt that showed the information.
I think this is YMMV because I too have purchased not one but multiple tires for multiple vehicles from WM. My local store must be awesome because I've had zero problems whatsoever. From scheduling or random drive up. They do overtighten the nuts so I remove/retighten when I get home.

Thinking of giving them one of those torque limiting sticks for use on my vehicles next time but havent gotten around to it.
