The Razr 2024 deal is mainly attractive as a cheap way to get a foldable phone and, for some units, a path to Metro or T Mobile unlock. The phone includes a preinstalled screen protector, ships without a signature requirement, and can be activated with eSIM or a physical SIM. The biggest draw is the low first month price, with extra lines sometimes dropping to $30 or $35. The main catch is unlock uncertainty, since success appears tied to Android 14 and older security patches, while Android 15 or later updates often trigger server errors or a 180 day lock message. Screen durability and fold damage also remain a concern, making it a tempting but risky pickup.

Sounds like a heck of a deal. How much will the 4th one be?

What happens if I never activate? I just want to use this as a gaming/wifi only device. Will I be charged automatically monthly? Will I be charged the full amount of the phone?

nope. one full year from activation. no other way around. dont believe in the other guy said. he couldnt get his phone unlocked.
But doesn't need service for that year? Like we can just pay the first month, cancel, and then have it unlocked after a year?

So paying $65 for the first month and then cancel the auto pay and use the phone to browse the internet for a year. After that the phone will be automatically unlocked. Is it correct?

Yes, and autopay isn't setup automatically so don't even bother with that part.

Why it sounds like so difficult to spend 30 seconds to activate it online?

Some have said it does, and some said it doesn't, it depends on the android version and security patch date.

No I'm curious as to if I'll be charged at all or when will I be charged if I choose to go WiFi only/don't activate.

You might as well activate since you're paying for the months service

You're already paid for the 1 month service. Activate or not, you won't get any refund .

Thanks. I'm not trying to get refunded. I just don't want to go through the hassle of activating, then cancelling later. Hope it doesn't automatically charge me for the next month if I forget. I don't have any use for a second cell phone number + data.

Can I activate, then immediately cancel? I am pretty sure I will forget to cancel in a month lol.

But, will only paying the first month result in the service cancelled and the phone won't be automatically unlocked after one year? In other words, is it necessary to keep the phone service/plan active before the phone can be automatically unlocked?

It will automatically activate within 30 days, I believe.

Once you get the phone, just turn off autopay. You don't need to actively cancel anything.
