Decent price for everything included but almost everything is outdated.

About everything was top of the line here when new but basically all are 1-2 generations old, this will help you save some money and get good tools.
DCD998/DCD999 has a stronger option: DCD1007 (but the 1007 is quite a bit larger)
DCF887 has a few newer options: DCF850 (shorter but a bit wider), DCF845 (XR labeled, similar dimensions), DCF860 (newest & strongest but much heavier/wider)
current version of 8 amp charger is a 2stage (this is single, potentially same operation but newer ones display charge state better.
8ah battery can now be had in a POWERPACK which is much stronger
2ah battery is pretty decent for lightweight and lower current tools, would be good for impact but likely not drill. I'd say the upgrade for this is the 1.7ah POWERSTACK (usually the one that doesn't display it's AH rating)

Luke warm as pyrokid stated above. Would be a lot better if the second battery wasn't the baby 2ah. Obviously prices have risen, but this would have been a 200 dollar combo when these tools were the latest and greatest on sale. I think you'll see better deals in a few weeks for BF and the holidays.

I'll wait for it to drop again to 249 as it was 2 weeks ago for a day then went up to 299. Probably thanks giving.

Unfortunately you have to have some knowledge of their product line typically, I believe individual tools listing pages on Dewalt's website are or can be ordered chronologically. It used to be they went up in number but they've got so many products now that they've had to jump to new ranges of numbers. Milwaukee was wise to start with 4 digit numbers and only increment the first digit on major changes.

I'd imagine asking an AI chatbot would be great help in determining chronological order if you're not in the know already...

these kits were $200 last year. dck2100P2, which was basically the same thing but with 2x 5ah batteries instead of 8+2, was $180-$200 for MONTHS from multiple vendors. from october to january,

This kit has not been $200 anywhere. There have been promotions where you get a free tool, which have varied greatly from year to year, but that was based on a $350+ price. The cheapest DCK2100P2 on eBay for the past 6 months went in the $240 range with shipping. No idea who had that set for $180 but I would have to see that to believe it from an authorized dealer.

It was definitely that cheap last December, you can put the kit part number in the SD search bar and see it was 180 one place and 200 another. While prices have gone up on everything, these tools are that much older now too. Many variants of the DCD99X and DCF88X with a couple batteries and a charger kits were 200 over the last several years back to when they were still the top models even.

Every company is still trying to rip you off until they go bankrupt. These tools are mid at best and combos like this should be $99-$150.

I feel like anybody who is spending $200 or more at Lowe's and want to save an additional 10% can do so by buying gift cards from the following deal:

Lowe's just dropped the price to $249. Now it's arguably a better deal than the $249 Flex hammer drill & impact combo with fast charger and two stacked lithium batteries, but with only 48Wh capacity each vs 36Wh & 144Wh Dewalt's included batteries.

Great info. This just dropped in price to $249. There's also a $249 combo for Flex Tool's most powerful Hammer Drill, Impact, fast charger, and two stacked lithium batteries. However, the Flex's smallest 48Wh stacked lithium for 96Wh tot capacity vs Dewalt's 180Wh total in this combo. The output in watts of Dewalt's 2Ah XR battery is significantly lower than approx 800W for Flex's 2Ah stacked lithium, but Dewalt 8Ah battery will be much higher. I think Flex Tools get the edge still because their tools and batteries still come with a lifetime warranty and they are among the most lenient to make returns too. Even if Lowe's stops carrying Flex to to focus on Kobalt XRT line, Flex will still be sold online and it's awesome how easy Flex's website makes it to find the best deals on their tools. They put all the pricing for all retailers on there, even for different configurations of their combos. So helpful.
