I can buy 32 containers of ice cream or buy this thing which I have to clean, find a place to store it and then still have to spend money to buy ingredients to make my own. I'll just buy ice cream from the store. And the reviews are such a mixed bag.

Just an FYI: last year I was given an ice cream maker (not soft serve). Have not used it once...
I bought a ninja creami back in 2022. Most used appliance after air fryer and microwave. I prepare 7 pints of protein ice cream. Near $150 investment I've made.tempted to upgrade to newer models but it's held up

Yeah but the machine is always broken.
if mcdonalds machine is always broken, what chance do you think we have with this ill-considered bulk of plastic?

You can buy quarts of soft serve at Dairy Queen. I do it all the time.

It will taste better if you make it yourself, but it cost more to make it than buy it. You need to use heavy cream which is expensive. I own an ice cream maker, not this soft serve one and I haven't bought ice cream from the store since, it's nasty it's like saying why make pasta just buy speghetti-o's. My family doesn't eat alot of ice cream, I might use my machine three times a month at the most. Even the most simple recipe taste better than any store bought brand. It's like comparing Brewster's or an ice cream shop that charges 7-9 dollars for a cone to some Eddy's or Bryers. Homemade ice cream doesn't taste like that trashin the groceries freezer. My kids wont even eat store bought out anymore if they serve it at restaurants.

If you or someone in your family loves making ice cream, not just eating it, an ice cream maker is a great investment. My husband loves making ice cream and I get to benefit from his hard work. He's made some interesting recipes as well. One recipe he used whipping cream and it came out super rich, like so rich I didn't enjoy eating it as ice cream, but I found it to be great with coffee. A sort of affogato americano.

The other thing I like about it is, in store ice cream often has like 30+ ingredients in it. Some brands, like Clover or Tillamook, have a dozen or less ingredients, but they're 3 - 4x the cost of the other brands. My husband's recipes are generally less than a dozen ingredients, unless he adds candy like peppermint patties or peanut butter cups cause those often have dozens of ingredients by themselves.

Anyways, he has fun creating and experimenting with ice cream recipes and I have fun being his ice cream taste tester.

Or just buy big cups of frozen yogurt from Costco whenever you're there. I really want a machine like this, but I really don't want to clean it.

If you watch the YouTube video, it looks surprisingly simple to clean.
