No, ego batteries have a stable shelf life of 5-10 years if kept in a climate controlled environment prior to their first full charge. Also, the warranty is from the date of purchase not manufactur and 12ah batteries have a 5yr warranty.
The 12ah batteries have only been in production for around 3 years when the 52" inch Zero turn came out.

I'm pretty sure it's a 3 year warranty and if you register it you get 5 years. So anyone buying any 12ah (maybe the 10ah too), make sure to check on this first and register if needed.
I bought the 10ah and it's heavy for a blower, or other handhelds. But with strap it's not that bad. Everyone needs a little workout. But can go full blast with leave blower for a long time with that much power. or save power not using the turbo button. I suggest everyone keep their batteries charge half way or with 2 notches charged the way you get it from the factory.
If this is for a snow blower or lawn mower then weight is not a factor.
