It'll damage your kidneys and raise your blood pressure about the same. (Sodium count) Taste wise, about the same.

does the sodium count drinking the soup or does it only apply to eating the noodles?

Much of the sodium will transfer into the water during cooking, but there's no way to calculate exactly how much. You would have to send a sample to a lab.

My picky child prefers these over maruchan. He doesn't care for the peas and says the texture of nissin noodles are better.

You post didn't mention flavor-only, so I'll assume you are asking purely about nutrition... I don't like to health-nag but will provide info when someone asks so I'll try - both this and Maruchan will have 1,150mg sodium, 50% RDA. So they are both equal there.

If you're looking to reduce sodium with ramen, use the packs with separate flavor packets. There is still sodium in the noodles, but if you use say only half the flavor pack you should be able to get the total sodium a little lower. If you use a full pack that will be a little bit more sodium than these cups from either brand.

Taste, not necessarily better or worse. I prefer maruchan slightly, but neither are bad to me. The big advantage of these is that they have paper cups that can be safely microwaved, Maruchan is typically in styrofoam.

I usually don't drink the soup of either though after the noodles are gone, I've noticed that drinking the soup pretty reliably gives me either constipation or diarrhea.

Beef also had the same price. No other flavors had the discount.

Worse. They removed msg and replaced it with other glutamate sources or flavor enhancers. I thought it was worse and had a strange sweetness.

The noodles are better in comparison. But if any wants lower sodium options are 3x the price and not in a cup, a health hack would be to dab off the excess flavoring before you add the water to microwave.

No, the way to reduce sodium is to pour out the soup. And if you really want to reduce the sodium, rinse the contents before cooking. Simply fill the cup halfway with water then swish the cup for a few seconds. Then pour the water out and refill with water as normal then cook. How much water you use for rinsing and how long your swish depends on his much sodium you want to remove. And how bland you're willing to eat

My recommendation was not for the cup varieties, but thanks for the ideas for the cup ones.
