Is it just me, or is this a very good deal? These were $900 laptops at the beginning of the year, and performance is supposed to be very good.

The Elite 78 is supposed to have similar single core and multi-core performance to the Ultra 7 155H and R7 8840HS, even beating out the Macbook Air M3 in multicore speed. Battery life is a solid 15 hours for basic usage, and the 1TB drive in this should suit the needs of 90% of users.

The Adreno X1-85 is not as widely supported as AMD and Intel's integrated GPUs unfortunately, so support isn't complete for all games. However, this is an impressive thin-and-light, especially for that price.

Edit: Alright, given the compatibility issues these ARM CPUs have, I get the feeling this is a large group of returns. I looked around to see if there were similar AMD and Intel options in this price range, and it looks like you can get an Omnibook 5 16" for $550, new.

Intel:

Given the compatibility issues Arm for Windows faces, I'd probably recommend either the AMD AI 7 equipped laptop, or the Intel Ultra 7 equipped laptop. My personal preference would be for the AMD laptop, but that Arrow Lake Ultra 7 255 is a great CPU too.

What if I already have a main pc, this laptop is for pleasure and light emails, any reason to get something else over this?

This is a really solid machine, I bought the one with the two year warranty for $487 [ebay.com] - it runs great, display is sharp, touch screen is new for me and sort of cool - battery is great - unless you're looking to run games or some software that's not yet compatible on ARM - this computer does it all - also new from Amazon for $550 [amazon.com] - I have it hooked up to a dock running two 4k monitors and the lapto screen - it handles it well

Specs should be updated to show wifi 6 and BT 5.3 - from listing "Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 Wi-Fi 6E (2x2) Dual Band Simultaneous (DBS)" "Bluetooth 5.3"

It should work great as a general use PC. Where you'll run into trouble are older applications and non-standard apps not specifically in the Windows for ARM compatibility list. Windows for ARM is still not fully baked I'm afraid.

But if you just use Chrome, Office, or some other common application, this will be a great experience with stellar battery life.
