The Kamado Joe Classic II is a ceramic charcoal grill that stands out for smoking and general barbecue, with a convenient hinge and the familiar Kamado-style airflow control. The build quality feels noticeably better than cheaper knockoffs, and the classic size still handles plenty of meat for family cooks. The main drawbacks are its weight and size, since moving it often takes a truck, two people, or even a cart, and some units have shown missing parts or electronics and warranty concerns. It is a strong value at $599 when the store has stock and the price matches.

people who can handle heavy in-store pickup because multiple commenters say it's around 285-350 lbs and recommend renting a truck (and/or using a grill cart) to make loading/unloading manageable.
Ovationcs257 TaehunC anonymouse22 RedZoneOS
shoppers who are willing to hunt clearance in-store because commenters report the $599 price can vary by store/stock and that checking nearby stores (or even when online shows "unavailable") can surface the deal.
stegen uribees TaehunC PurpleShape8524
home cooks who want to start cooking and smoking on a ceramic kamado because commenters say it's "all you need," and one person even recommends buying it and reselling if you don't get into it.
kjggx6 TxLoneStar77
people who want a convenient heat-control setup without paying for the Konnected Joe add-on because commenters debating the $300 Konnected Joe say temperature control is "nice to have" for shorter smokes and the charcoal lighting is the "super clutch" part.
RedZoneOS PhilG9974
buyers who cook for more than just their family but still want a smaller kamado because one commenter says they love the Classic size for doing a lot of meat, but they wish they'd gone XL when cooking for larger groups.
TxLoneStar77

buyers who want to avoid dealing with warranty/electronics risk because commenters warn there are "lots of issues with the electronics" and that KJ warranty repair is "not good" / "nonexistant," advising a hard pass.
loveless13 loveless13
people who need to move the grill without help because commenters caution that if it tips over it could mean losing about $600, and they recommend bringing a crew or at least using proper moving help.
PhilG9974 Ovationcs257
SUV-only buyers who can't use a truck because commenters say an SUV likely won't work due to height/emptying parts, and one person says it wouldn't fit without store help.
Ovationcs257 FairSardine323
floor-model shoppers who can't tolerate missing parts or cosmetic damage because one commenter's floor model had missing components and scratches, and they found it extremely difficult to load/unload alone.
RandyK3107
buyers who specifically want the Konnected Joe features because at least one commenter recommends skipping it and says they use a FireBoard + fan instead as an easier/cheaper approach.

Common Questions (4)

No, the $599 price appears to be store-specific and stock-dependent. Some locations still showed $900, while others honored $599, sometimes with additional discounts on display models or military pricing.
stegen bptexan Marnelvs RandyK3107
It weighs roughly 285-350 lb and is much easier to move with two people or a small crew. Removing the internals first helps a lot, and several buyers recommend a pickup truck or rented truck because an SUV may not have enough height or room.
PhilG9974 TaehunC FairSardine323 PurpleShape8524
Yes, one purchase was reported as free shipping with free in-store assembly, and another was bought new in the box at the $599 price. That makes the deal more practical if you want store help getting it ready without paying extra.
Marnelvs PurpleShape8524
It can fit in some SUVs only with difficulty if the unit is taken out of the box or partially disassembled. One buyer loaded it into a compact SUV but could not get it back out alone, while another needed store staff to remove it from the box before it would fit.

I also saw the connected Joe at $899 Don from $1999 st the Leominster MA location. Had half a mind to pick that up but I have a BGE the same size. Want to say Marlborough had one too.

Picked up one Jacksonville this evening. Had to hunt for it -- hidden on a top rack in the garden center. Also has the Konnected floor model for 899

Just picked one up in Woodhaven MI. The guys at the store were super helpful. Took it out of the box and loaded it onto my SUV--otherwise it would not have fit.

Just got one in Erie, PA. Didn't read all the comments here, they loaded it in my truck with forklift. Once I got home I tried to unload myself... I managed to get it out, but the big egg is heavy so I could only shimmy it onto a cart. Now time to recruit a couple strong friends or set up a hoist.

The job is much easier with a grill chariot. Google it. I made one for mine and it made it so much easier to lift. Still needed 2 people but basically effortless to move.

Mine was a floor model...for some reason missing the thermomotor and one piece of metal on the side shelf plus some light scratches. manager knocked it down to 450 for me...which i thought was more than fair. I loaded it into a compact SUV by myself. It was incredibly difficult but doable don't recommend. I could not get it out of the car by myself and will find some help to put it back in the stand.

Nice -- Had to drive an hour, but the unit was actually a Konnected Joe -- ringing up as the Classic Joe II. I paused for a second and the associate immediately offered to knock off another $50.

Just picked mine up yesterday (bought it on Sunday on will call) two men is sufficient to move this and you can unload the interior to make it lighter to move. Note the Kamado Joe Grill cover is also on sale for $40 (at least at the home depot I went to) and even if it says "unavailable" rather than "clearance" online it still may be worth it to check thats how i found mine. In Atlanta the morrow store had it for $900 but cumberland had it for $600
