This is that weak version with a worse performance than original Rog Ally Extreme from two years ago

Yes, but steam deck OLED has a better screen. And it's cheaper when on sale. The performance between this and steam deck OLED is about the same. If one doesn't specifically care about the anti-cheat games that steam deck doesn't support, steam deck OLED might be the better option. Of course there are other considerations-- primarily game pass, which remains a perfectly valid argument in favor of the Xbox ROG Ally. I have windows installed in a partition on my steam deck and sometimes play game pass games on it, but getting them to work with the controllers is always a pain. The easiest way is to use controllers is Glossi, but it's ending active development. The current version works there is no telling how long it'll continue to work. At some point it'll break and one will have to wait for a fork or another project that may or may not work as well.Bottom line - if you are a game pass user, the XBox ROG Ally will be the best option. If not, steam deck is a better option in my opinion.

1080p vs 720p, larger battery, better handling, imho are very important differences you missed in this handheld comparison.
The Steam Deck is 800p (16:10), and the ergonomics are subjective considering both are heavy at 670g. I don't have an Xbox Ally for comparison but using my Steam Deck and Xbox Controller they are both comfortable once you get used to their design. Battery life (60Wh vs 40Wh battery) I didn't mention since it will take a hit from driving the higher resolution.

Not to mention if it's anything like the standard ROG Ally (which can be improved with a 3rd party upgrade), it can't lower down to 4-5W for indie titles which will affect low-end battery life. It will probably be better if you lower the resolution to 720p and compare AA/AAA titles at higher wattages but at that point you also have to consider the OLED version of the Steam Deck at the same price as this which has much better battery than the LCD model.

Point is that it's tough to see the benefits for this model (not the X which is good for its expensive price range) over something like a Steam Deck LCD/OLED or used ROG Ally Z1X with a battery swap. I think once the price comes down or it goes on sale at BB like the OG Ally did with fire open-box sales it will have a much better value proposition.

I agree across the board. An OG Ally with battery mod is more enticing from a performance standpoint, and the Steam Deck / SD OLED are frequently available much chesper when on sale. You can bet they'll have another OLED sale before the end of the year.

The Xbox Ally is just overpriced above $500. It's not a terrible platform, it's just priced badly, and is already seeing big discounts on the Open Box market.

Way less too.

Better then SteamDeck. Install SteamOs or Bazzite for best experience.
Its literally the same chipset form the steam deck.... Without an OLED screen

I think it's fine for people that don't want to pay 1,000 for the other one, I think this one is worth the price...

I find them all far too heavy to enjoy gaming on. Modded my ally and there it sits gathering dust (pm)
