1. If you purchase directly from Ubiquiti you got a two year warranty instead of a one year warranty.
2. If you purchased from them directly, you also pay shipping, so the savings at Micro Center is actually higher.
Either way, the Ubiquiti equipment is great, especially if you use other items in there ecosystem which has been rapidly expanding.
If you are lucky enough to plug in your single router and it works, you don't need it. If you have a bigger house with multiple access points or ever need to troubleshoot (IMHO) its a ton easier than trying to figure out what's going wrong using a consumer router or cobbling together freeware network tracing utilities and sifting through MB of text data looking for your issue.
This blows them out of the water. Consistency, speeds, UI, everything is incredibly premium and very easy to use.
For those who stream and host their own cloud gaming, you'll never go back from WifiMan. Tailscale is wonderful, but the built in support for Unifi's VPN is next level.
I'm not going to tell you to get this at a great price, but I will recommend it with all of my heart. You'll love it.

household has iphone 17 & 14s & rokus. no cameras.
would this unifi router improve my current cable/wifi setup?
any help appreciated.
While you'll see a few people complaining about the 2.4GHz, I really don't know if I can blame the UDR7 on this, as my samsung TV just sucks occasionally where it can't even connect to any Wifi, I've run through multiple varying brands from a Linksys WRT32X, 3x Wifi5 Velops, 3x Wifi6 Velop's, openWRT with AP's, then the flint2, then nanopi R5C+AP's, then pfsense with AP's, and now UDR7 with AP's, and the samsung just does what it always does. I hate to say it, but it's probably a combination of 2.4 being ancient and having to compete with interference from microwaves and neighbors. Some devices will just need to be wired in the end.
If you live alone, don't play games, or need more range with AP's, just stick with the flint2. But in my case, it was a worthy upgrade. Though, I'll say that I really had no reason to go from pfsense to the UDR7, since the connection loss was totally spectrum's issue when I ordered the UDR7+AP's.
Oh yeah. Almost forgot, you can install SQM on your flint2 to fix the bufferbloat issues, but you need to dig under the hood with LuCi.
2. How is the range? I have 2K sq home + backyard etc. I want to make sure just 1 works.

Yes UniFi equipment is the best.
It has a steep learning curve due to the amount of options. ChatGPT is your friend.
You will end up buying more UniFi stuff to expand your set-up.
Notes:
I have a similar piecemeal set-up to this deal of Cloud Gateway Ultra + U7 Pro + Flex Mini 2.5G
I have a 3000 sqft home (3x 1000sqft floors including basement). To ensure great coverage I have 3 access points, one on each floor (U7 Pro + U7 lite + U7 lite). If you are buying this gateway (which has wifi) and have a similar sqft requirement then I would recommend 1-2x of the $99 U7 lite to increase coverage / signal strength.
The Dream Router 7 only has 1x PoE port so for more than 1x PoE access point your going to need a Poe injector or other solution. I use a cheap 2.5GB PoE switch to power all my APs, like this one: https://a.co/d/cuXXUXq
The U7 lite does not support 6GHZ wifi but I find int he home that 6GHz gets blocked easily and would need lots of access points ot have a good signal everywhere so I saved by not getting 6GHZ U7 APs.
Instead the 2.4ghz + 5 Ghz wifi 7 channel bonding using the U7 is fantastic and I see strong, stable >700 mbs wifi speeds to my cell phone where I go.
Aside: I have 7+year old AC LR wifi access point that is in use in the garage for extra coverage broadcasting a dedicated wifi network. Its great that such an old product is still working, useful, supported by software updates, and compatible in the mix with the newer Unifi equipment.
