The proper usage for the washer is to make sure leaving the door open after every wash until it is dry. I tell that to all my tenants and make sure that they practice it. And not only the door, the detergent bay should be left open until dry too.

I would assume they can be used for any "deep clean " purpose. Why limit it to washing machines

I learned this way too late but it has made a huge difference in the smell and build up in my washer since I started doing it. I just simply stick a piece of foam in between the door and machine after usage now

Good advice here. I have a circa 2020 GE Ultrafresh that has an air-out feature along with Microban tub and detergent liners and they still get icky if you don't leave them open.

This is good advice for sure, but my <2 year old LG has black buildup in the seal and I've religiously left the door open. Still my favorite washer. Going to give this s try.

This kit or something similar is still needed if you have pets. The hair gets into the drain holes. A click wipe keeps things draining properly.
Every 3 months I do a quick tear down of the removable parts. Basically everything you see pictured above. Takes about 15 minutes. My washer is 6 years old now. Still looks new.
Obliviously without pets maintenance is easier.

Only thing it's missing is the drain bowl when cleaning the filter.

I have a hard time cleaning the rubber rim for my 18 year old GE washer. Hope these tools help. I have been using an antibacterial wipe to do a quick clean 2 or 3 washes .
