Confirmed the same, we have to shell out 260$ to 280$ along with port in
Thats still nit bad as compared ti a Metro store where they would tag on accessories, insurance and a random bunch of other charges...

It seems you can get it for about 170 from boost mobile (includes 1 month of service, no port in)https://www.boostmobile.com/shop/iphone-16e.html
Boost is locked for 12 months of ACTIVE service.

Helps if you put the store in the title.

Right, I dread making changes on Total. I got in at 50% as well and I think I like Fi, the service is great.

I got one during the last $49 deal — here's why you should avoid it:
Boost stores charge random fees and won't provide a detailed invoice.
I ended up paying $180 for the phone + $65 for the plan.
You can't change your plan once you sign up.
The phone only unlocks after 12 months of active service.
The network coverage is terrible.
It's a trap, not a deal. Be careful!

I personally avoid in-store deals for the extra fees & taxes that come with it.

With 17 base at 256GB for the same $800, 16 and 16e need to go down in price. Typical $100 less for one generation older doesn't cut it here as you get half the storage. Also 16e price has stayed at $600 even after 17 launch. There should be better promos around the holidays, hopefully. 🤞🏼

Unless you are in need for one now, wait for an online promotion from Total than in-store.

Having purchased two 2024 Moto Edge last year and two 2025 Moto Stylus this year from Total - all port promos, their online experience is decent. For phones marked free, I have paid only taxes on the service for online orders with Total and no activation fees, etc. Yet another reason to avoid in-store.

How long before your considered a new customer? I got a phone earlier in the year from total , I cracked the screen , screen cost more than the phone. I'd like to get this deal if possible. February or march I got my current phone ,could I be considered a new customer?

Need a new phone and wondering if/how this would work if we just paid for a year of Mint Mobile. Could I get the phone, transfer my number to Total for three months, then when the phone unlocks, move back to Mint and continue with my already paid plan there?

Once you port out of Mint, your service is cancelled so unfortunately you will lose your plan. Best to find a cheap plan elsewhere you can use for the porting.

Is that total inclusive of the three months and will they guarantee unlock after that three months?
Yes, inclusive, but exact amount may vary by dealer and location (per tax).
No dealer is going to 'guarantee' an unlock. They will assure you that if you meticulously follow the rules and requirements for unlocking, it will unlock. Total is very good about following and complying with their written unlocking policy, and you can follow up with an FCC or BBB complaint if it doesn't happen despite meeting all the meticulously followed rules and requirements for unlocking-- in which case a senior Total agent will make sure it unlocks.
