Hoping there's a similar deal during Black Friday which does not require going in a total wireless store

Spoke with in-store rep, the unlock policy is 90 days for this deal, which covers the length of the required prepaid service. Without a doubt this is the best deal yet for this phone. The $260-280 total some are referring to breaks down like such

$195: 3 months unlimited premium paid upfront
$65-85: taxes and fees (assessed at phone's original MSRP of $599)

Then after 90 days, port back to whoever you were on before. Personally, as someone currently on a $25/mo plan, I deduct $75 from the cost of this deal as it is what I would have spent for those 3 months of service anyways. Doing that, the total cost goes from $260-280 down to $185-205 for a new iPhone. That's nearly a $500 discount or 83% off. Perfect time to upgrade for anyone rocking an old device like I am.

I was out the door for $227. Not sure how that is the case but I confirmed three months of service in the app.

Not until it's unlocked.

Also not sure why a store says unlock is 90 days - the current written policy listed in the online website is 60 days. Maybe they're just confused since discounted deal requires purchase of a 90 day policy.

My thoughts exactly but at the end of the day if you've already bought the 90 days of service, does it really make much of a difference?

It shows that the retailer doesn't know what they're talking about & they're misrepresenting the details (what else might be incorrect?).
Buyers should pay close attention to what they're agreeing to. Retail stores have been known to add fees that aren't part of the online purchase (like insurance) and aren't required.

That's all I needed to hear. I have 9 stores in my area, but that's too much in taxes and fees. No deal.

i have had pretty bad experience. I made a google voice number, paid to be unlocked ,went to store and bought their overpriced 65/month for 3 months plan+activation+ taxes for total of $280
It took a while for them to activate and I had to leave on promise that they will call me once its done
Lo and behold - seems like Total flagged it for fake portin as its new GV number and wouldnt give store the credit. So the store wants me to pay another $299 for the phone
Its a mess - any advice on how to get my money back? I feel sorry for the store owner but I dont think i did any fraud

So that was interesting. I had gotten 2 numberbarn numbers but no matter how I tried to use those numbers it wouldn't take it. The rep at TW told me they can sell me legit port in numbers for $12 a piece (needed 2 phones) and because I was doing 2 lines they put my on the family plan for the 3 months to save a few bucks. So, with the $24 for the phone numbers to port in, plus the 3 months for each line, plus $25 for each phone for activation my OTD cost for both phones was $443 bucks. Also, you get 3 months of Disney+ with this deal as well.

Took awhile to get everything sorted out but at that price point I'm not complaining. Thanks OP!

yup. total wireless/straight talk phones unlock after 60 days of paid service due to the terms of the verizon buy out deal.

That's why you always ask these questions before swiping, and get terms in writing.
