The batteries are UL1973 & UL9540A compliant, unfortunately, i'm not able to find any hybrid inverter of theirs that is UL certified.

Do you need to use one of their inverters? I was planning to get some of these eventually and connect them to a gridboss/flexboss system.

No, you don't. They can communicate with many other protocols besides the ones their inverters use.
