This is exactly it. I'm in senior management for a manufacturing company. About eight times a year I have to go visit our various facilities and that involves walking around factory floor and/or warehouse. These kind of shoes are perfect for that. They are also great for our IT staff and engineers who don't want to wear steel toe shoes all the time, but can just slip these on when they need to go onto the floor. Likewise, we have people who basically work desk jobs on the floor and they love this kind of shoe.

Yeah I work as a sales engineer and have a volcom version of these. Super comfortable, wear them all day so I don't have to change to go out on the assembly floor.
