This Verizon iPhone 16 Pro deal is mainly about a low monthly device payment paired with a $500 Walmart eGift Card, but the real value depends on navigating the payoff and cancellation steps. In store, the gift card often arrives within minutes or hours, and Verizon phones are supposed to auto unlock after 60 days. The main friction is that payoff access can be blocked for about 30 days, some stores only accept cash, and the line still needs separate cancellation. Sales tax is due on the full amount, and the gift card timing can be delayed on online orders.

Thanks for your great help, I have few questions, So if I'm unable to pay off the phone, because I actually tried with 2 corporate stores and both asked me to wait 30 days, should I port out before the 3 days period? Is this going to save the first month service fee? Will I be only charged the activation fee? Will the phone be unlocked after 60 days if I did this?
yes, port out.

yes, port out.
If we port out, won't it be locked for 60/90 days to Verizon?
And can I use it with indian operators like Jio and Airtel?

You actually had success paying $1100 in cash at a Verizon store? Dear Lord, I've tried so many Verizon corporate stores & they all refuse to do it, making me wait 30 days. Please share what you told the rep & if you are comfortable sharing the specific Verizon corporate store, if it's near me I'd love to try this.
I just told the rep I would like to pay my device off and the guy was very cool and quick. If your account is less than one day old, its possible that their system won't give the option to pay off with cash. As for excuses, you can say you would like to pay off so that you can upgrade to ip17promax during black Friday.

I was in the same boat. It was almost like the new phone couldn't see the transfer request nearby. Then it occurred to me that I never set a device passcode on the new iPhone. As soon as I did, the new iPhone recognized the eSIM transfer request from the old iPhone, and the transfer went without a hitch. I guess this is a security feature for unprotected phone.
Also I did NOT login to my Apple ID on the new phone. Hope this helps someone.

Pretty sure the email "SIM change request" is a standard warning so you know it's taking place. I got both email and text. Don't think this mean ATT is involved.
OMG! thanks, I was not getting the prompt to transfer the esim and it was because I had not setup the phone passcode. This comment should be marked as useful or be added to the instructions on how to do the esim swap!

it is always locked for 60 days. Whether you port or not . if you have activate on Verizon , have to wait for 60 days anyways before you use JIO, airtel or Vodafone Big Grin

Did you try the chat? That's what I have done for cancelling with ATT before.

For anyone trying to pay off device. I did it by calling verizon on 611. When asked for a reason. I just said I want to be ready to take advantage of black friday offers to upgrade.

yes, just tried it and it was smooth. Last few days, I was not able to get hold of anyone. But today, I was able to chat and get it closed.

Bill now shows as zero.

Great to hear this. Did you connect to a human rep or the bot allowed you to pay off?

OMG! Just realized! I do not have Walmart+. Ordered on the 15th! Says Arrives on 24th.

So should I just cancel? Order again with Walmart+ ? Or get Walmart+ now?

Oh damn, I forgot to ask for that. Oh well, will keep my fingers crossed and hope that I don't need to reach out again, and activation fee will be automatically refunded.

Here's a quote from the rules:
"For Event 1, Online Purchase must occur between 7:00PM ET November 13, 2025 for Walmart+ members, all other customers begin after 11:59PM ET November 13, 2025 through 11:59PM PT November 16, 2025."
so, Walmart + would have allowed you to make an early order. Since you oredered on 15th, you seem to be good.
