A low end android phone is way cheaper and offers way more functionality , however schools mandate these calculators (non smart). That is the reason prices are still high.

I can't believe this is not $30. It was $89 20 years ago and it is still $89 today not on sale.

I believe they still need the TI calculators for standardized tests like the SAT

The emulator app, Wabbitemu, is legal. It works with many ROMs, including TI-84 compatibles.

Could you confirm that it actually says "python" on top like the Amazon image? Thanks.

Why no company has engineered a cheaper concept for $30 or less?

all teachers recommend this calculator since they are familiar with this functionality. there are cheaper calculators (casio) but teachers only recommend TI.

and people who are recommending apps, the issue is not about if phone has calculator functionality but rather schools don't want kids to be able to cheat using phone. they know that this calculator doesn't have network connectivity and is very hard to use as a cheating instrument. they don't allow phones. That is what TI is exploiting.

Yes, It does say on the top of the calculator. Also, the box has the picture of it as well.

Techincally 90 dollars in 2005 money is now 150 dollars ajusted for inflation. So being the 'same' price means it's actually cheaper.

So many good memories with this. Learning BASIC and writing programs to do my homework for me, playing games in class (Avalanche, Block Dude, Phoenix), making custom splash screens, etc.

The comment is also not true because this version of the TI-84 was first released in 2015. It has a higher resolution, backlit color screen, rechargeable battery, and a thinner, lighter design than the version before it.
