This is a solid stater wheel, but I hate the wheel and pedals. I started with this set and ended up replacing the pedals and wheel. In hindsight I wish I would have just bought separate pieces and built what I want, though at a higher price.

The wheel and pedals definitely don't compare with the higher end, but it's definitely a step up from the typical starter gear people usually buy. Good middle ground in my opinion.

Also the lite pedals these come with basically require the $30 brake kit to make the brake acceptable. It should come by default, so plan that purchase. And if you are doing GT or formula, grab the $40 formula mod for the wheel. Honestly, I would have started with something like the R9, KS, and SRP setup with the load cell. I wish they offered the R5 base alone for like $199 as the base is fine. Or more honestly, I probably would have just started with Simagic stuff.

Forgot to mention, I totally agree it's better to save up and get their higher end gear. I personally bought the R9 and have loved that. The R9 bundles are on sale for a very good price right now too.

So after all the considerations, I went with the new Logitech RS50 setup. Although the ecosystem is weak, initial reviews are all very good and you also get TRUEFORCE for the games that support it. And there's currently a good promotion with Logitech with the code NASCAR25 which you get much of the gears for 25% off and a free RS pedal ($160 value) if you get the RS50 base. For those who needs Xbox compatibility, this is a good option to consider.
