The AW3423DWF is a 34 inch QD OLED ultrawide that stands out for immersive gaming, strong colors, and useful productivity space. The 3440 by 1440 resolution and 165 Hz refresh rate make it feel fast, while the 1800R curve is described as mellow enough for a comfortable desk setup. It also works well for side by side windows, creative work, and long sessions without reported burn in. The main tradeoffs are softer text than IPS and the fact that it is not 4K, though Dell's warranty and dead pixel policy add peace of mind.
buyers who are shopping specifically for a deal stack (coupon + Amex + PayPal/cashback) because multiple commenters broke down how the 10% coupon, Amex $100 off, and PayPal cashback (and sometimes cashback-site percentages) can bring the effective price down dramatically.
people who want to use an ultrawide OLED for both work and gaming because commenters say they used it for both and saw no burn-in after months to years, with gaming looking "flawlessly" and productivity benefiting from side-by-side windows and extra real estate.
gamers who care about immersive ultrawide visuals because commenters say ultrawide feels more immersive and that they've had amazing performance in games like BF6 on this panel.
Dell shoppers who want stronger coverage and a smoother replacement process because commenters recommend buying from Dell for the 0 dead/bright pixel policy and 3-year advance replacement warranty, and one commenter reported Dell CS delivered a replacement in two days after a failure.
people who sit at a desk and want a "mellow" curve because commenters say 1800R is a really mellow curve and they were looking for something between very aggressive curves (like 800R) and flatter options.
people who are very sensitive to text sharpness on OLED because commenters note that fonts can look less sharp/blurry than IPS (including complaints tied to subpixel behavior), even if movies look great.
buyers who are expecting the newest OLED model for the "blurry text fix" at this price point because commenters said the newer-model improvements they were hoping for didn't arrive at this price level (and they were still waiting).
buyers who specifically need full 4K resolution because one commenter was disappointed that it isn't full 4K and said those "we didn't bother to go full 4K" screens "suck" for them.
work setups that rely on KVM switching and must reliably hit full resolution/refresh because one commenter said it doesn't necessarily connect at full resolution or refresh rate reliably on their work machines through a KVM, unlike their older Dell monitor.
people who want to avoid any risk of warranty disputes because at least one commenter claimed Dell may not honor the warranty once it breaks and called Alienware products trash based on their experience/expectation.
Yes, the deal can get much cheaper when stacked with offers. A new-email 10% coupon, Amex $100 off $500+, PayPal cashback, and cashback-site rates have all been used together, with one breakdown putting the monitor near $400 total.
Yes. The 34-inch ultrawide layout makes side-by-side windows easy for work, and it also performs well for gaming with strong colors and immersive ultrawide gameplay. The main tradeoff is that OLED text is not as sharp as IPS, though setting Windows fonts to 125% can help.
It has held up well in long-term use, with multiple owners reporting no burn-in after about a year or even two years of daily work and gaming. The monitor also prompts a panel refresh every 4 hours to help maintain panel health.
Buying from Dell is attractive because of the 0 dead/bright pixel policy and 3-year advance replacement warranty. If the panel fails, Dell support has also been reported to replace units quickly, including a replacement delivered in two days.
The AW3423DWF is the older model but still considered solid, while the AW3425DW adds a 240 Hz refresh rate and 0.03 ms response time versus 165 Hz and 0.1 ms. The newer model costs about $100 more, so the choice comes down to whether those upgrades are worth it.
If you've got the Amex $100 off Dell.com it's so worth it, even more so if you add some CB on top. Have had mine coming up on a year and I absolutely love it. Use it for both work and gaming and it looks amazing. I have setup things like hide the taskbar and use a dark wallpaper, though I don't think that's necessary. Some people have complained that text can look jagged, but it looks fine to me. Just make sure your PC actually turns off the screen and goes to sleep if you end up leaving it on all night, unlike mine for some reason...I still can't figure out why.
Mine crapped out recently. Exited a game and the screen went blank. The CS is great after asking me to take a bunch of photos with a post it with my name and the sn#. I had a replacement delivered in two days.
Wow, that CS story hit a nerve with me. Had a similar (great) experience many many years ago with a Samsung monitor. They sent me another one right away and I sent the broken one in the replacement's box. However recently I bought a LG OLED TV (G5) that started crapping out after 2 weeks and 2 days. Was expecting similar CS ... but no (not even close!). They refused to exchange the TV and took 17 days to dispatch a tech to (supposedly) replace the OLED panel, but ended up denying the warranty. I knew my next monitor (and TV) won't be LG, but wasn't sure which other brand I could trust. I guess Alienware is on the short list.

What's the rest of the story? They don't just deny the warranty without telling you why.
I've read the argument that ultrawide is silly with OLED panels because the perfect blacks means you may as well just get a 16:9. There will be no backlight glow for ultrawide content so why pay for less screen? Maybe a naive opinion.
1800R is a really mellow curve, I have a 34" LG with 800R and it's a bit too much for me (I have to sit too close and it takes up a lot of desk depth). Looking for a 34" somewhere in between.
I just got the LG a few days ago and the curve is pretty extreme. Considering returning it to BestBuy. The colors are video images look so nice. I have been doing amazing in BF6 since using this. I am torn on what to do. I assume BestBuy is going to hammer me on a restocking fee.

Not a gamer. Is this overkill for day to day use? Web browsing, videos, emails, Word, Excel.
It's not overkill. You WILL notice the difference in quality immediately. It'd be fun to add this one as a second monitor just to compare with your old one. The extra screen real estate is great. The only thing I would say about OLED for productivity is that fonts are not as sharp as they are on, say, an IPS panel. However, it's not something I usually notice anymore.
Is this good for productivity or better for gaming?
I bought one of these during one of the last BF sales. Check the cashback sites as some of them have pretty good targeted percentages (mine had 30% when I bought it but YMMV). Combined with the AMEX offer and its a no brainer.
I use it for both but it really shines for gaming and color work. Text is pretty clear and I'm in Excel for a lot of the time. No burn in over the year or so I have had it and it prompts to do a refresh every 4 hours to keep panel health at peak.

The monitor can support both work productivity and gaming use cases effectively.
The OLED panel reportedly shows no burn-in after about a year of use.
Dell purchase reportedly includes a 0 dead/bright pixel policy and a 3-year advance replacement warranty.
The monitor reportedly prompts periodic panel refresh every four hours to help maintain panel health.
Text clarity may be limited because some users find triangle subpixels cause blurry or less-sharp text.
The curve can feel very extreme for some desk setups, which may make returns more likely.
The monitor can go blank after exiting a game, requiring Dell support and replacement handling.
The monitor may not reliably run at full resolution or refresh rate through a KVM on some work machines.

I love having two programs open side by side for productivity. No longer switching from tab to tab as 2 are open.
Works flawlessly for gaming.

That this isn't 4K can be helped by setting fonts to 125% in Windows to make sharper text.
I paid ~$1100 at release for it but looks like it's been new as low as $810. I like it mainly cause I both pc game and console game (PS5).

it won't. I made this mistake last time and then had to return and buy again!
