Oh you do? if a computer isn't marked, how could you tell the difference?

As much as the technology has been advancing, there's no need for this thing to weigh 3.46 pounds for a 14". That's entirely too heavy.

Is it because it's made of metal chassis?

Intel models are more likely to have TB ports and Intel wifi chipsets, but AMD has superior CPU. Trade-offs.

I have no idea, but I'm paying more attention as I start to age. I'm 56. When I was in my 30s, I probably would not have though about it. Now that my joints are bothered by arthritis, it's something I now have to pay attention to.

Batteries haven't changed weight much (in decades) and the first thing people complain about / expect is how long (or raw capacity #'s) the battery is rated for. Also the touchscreen and convertible design adds a bit of weight vs your standard laptop.

FWIW, I've had 4-5 14" 2-in-1's in the last couple years and not a single one has been near 3LBs. 3.5 pounds seems goldilocks zone.

I'm trying to understand what you mean by your last paragraph. Do you mean that everything you've had is heavier and so this is an expected weight? Or that this is heavier than it should be?

Sorry if I wasn't clearer. I meant this laptop's weight seems to be very middle of the road and expected based on my experience with this config. Unless you were buying a $1500+ laptop, I wouldn't expect much, if any functional weight savings based on this build. You might get an ounce or two heavier (or lighter), but not enough to notice.

Thanks for clarifying! Finally in the market for a replacement laptop and posts like yours and others here help a lot. Great time to buy (this week, I hope) but also a bit overwhelming. Thanks, again!

I just bought this, the chassis is not made of metal. However there is minimal flex, does not feel cheap.

On many reviews users report there are software compatibility issues on ARM based Windows laptops.
