Avoid Aliexpress via Paypal. All, yes ALL, transactions are being processed by Paypal as cash advance! Resulting in Credit Card Issuer inflicting a cash advance transaction fee + accrual of daily interest as high as 28% APR! No way to resolve and all three companies (CC, AE & Paypal) will circle jerk the finger pointing of who is responsible with no solution. Reddit is exploding with many customers getting hit with these fees in the tune of 10's and even 100's of dollars. Avoid!!!

Paying the balance early in Pay Monthly won't violate the terms.

Remove your PayPal account from eBay payment first. Now after making a purchase, it will redirect you to PayPal, pick 'pay in 4' from there.

Regarding my hung up Pay in 4 pending points for cancelled orders, PayPal says "Both the pending authorizations will automatically expire on 24 Nov 2025, 03:30 AM PST." We shall see. I was hoping they would immediately remove them like last time, because after that, I still had to wait another day for my Pay in 4 to return.

Yes, 4 charges to the chosen payment (cc, debit, bank acct) biweekly, starting the date it ships.

Chase won't work though.

Yes, full charge (just like how cc offers work).
Somehow it never took mu chase freedom cards to start with

Thanks OP. We do all our grocery shopping at Kroger so I just "prepaid" $1,250 in Kroger gift cards and saved to our account. The 20% back far outpaced the 5% back we usually get in grocery category!

Seeking Advice:

I updated my phone number on PayPal, when I logged in to save this offer. I also backed out of my PayPal payment window, during checkout, and added something to my cart. My 4 pay was denied for the following reason " Application information tied to unusual activity." Not sure which triggered it.

Am I screwed from using this promo now, or is there something I can do to salvage using it on a purchase at the Ubiquiti store?

Anyone know why Pay in 4 disappeared for me after I backed out of a purchase after being approved? I called Paypal and had them cancel the pending pay in 4 transaction on their side, but the option to use Pay in 4 is still not showing up for me on Walmart when I try to pay using Paypal. It only gives me the option to pay in full, pay monthly, or use paypal credit.

The Paypal rep who canceled the pending transaction on the PPal side said it takes 72 hours for the PPal system to update. Could that be the cause? Seems odd that the Pay in 4 option just disappears like that. Can you only use it once per merchant?
did yours get resolved? I am running into the same problem

That message happened to me, and I had one pending Pay in 4 showing from where I canceled out. But the rep immediately removed the pending/canceled transaction, and the next day, my Pay in 4 returned. However, I'm back in that situation now and trying to get them to remove pending canceled transactions, and they said it will be early Nov 24th. I'm requesting another manual voice. Because like I said, it could still take another day after they are cleared.

72 hours is the default to auto purge apparently, but I had a rep do a manual void for me on a canceled transaction, then it disappeared from Paypal completely.

And then, it still took another day for Pay in 4 to return. I haven't seen a Pay Monthly show up either.

So, if you're waiting it out for the automated system to clear it, it could be 72 hours plus another day. I'm in that situation myself unless they do the manual void that I requested a little while ago.

My pay in 4 is just broken, all it does after clicking place order is process the whole time, basically freezes, then I end up with a pending transaction in paypal that I keep needing to contact them to cancel. It's the stupidest thing, I'm not trying the monthly option since I don't want the credit hit or to risk interest.

Maybe try a different browser.

Have they been quick about completely removing those transactions that are hung up instead of telling you to wait 72 hours? They told me I have to wait 72 hours via the text support, but one Paypal rep via the phone cleared one of mine out immediately. But now I have a couple big ones I need purged. So Pay in 4 and Pay Monthly neither shows.

Second, you can run it through AI all you want. Noone has any idea if Paypal will change the terms and consider your points invalid after $250 total. Seems like this a complete clusterf*ck as far as PayPal is concerned.
So continue with 115 pages of clusterf*ckery and guessing... or get a concrete answer confirmed twice over by two different reps who reached out directly to the department that handles it/were the department that handles it? I'll go with the latter.

Perhaps OP should update the first post and update it so people who come in can see it right away. That would help alleviate the guessing and people not wanting to read 115 pages of theories and frustration..

I've worked with enough legalese on sweepstakes and promotions for large companies to know that when the terms are out there, they are locked into them....especially when there isn't an "out clause" in their T&C. Unless they want to expose themselves to a class-action suit, that is.

Oh great! It's good to see multiple Paypal reps getting confirmation from the correct dept. Thank you for reporting back.
You're welcome. It seems like you were in this thread for a long time trying to share what was the correct info.

I've updated the Wiki. I'll also reach out to the OP and staff to see if they can add it to the original post(s).

Some clueless Paypal employees who specifically work in the rewards department and are intimately familiar with the promotion? They weren't guessing or reading a script. I'll take them over you hoping and praying you got it right.

Let me know how to better get a straight answer. I'm all ears. Lead the way, Captain. We're at your beck and call.

No, that's the terms on the 20% offer.

See:

https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=180395332&postcount=1464&peid=59e24db9-b61d-4348-862a-5c098f7ad40a

I also ran the terms through a different AI engine, and it agrees with me also:

This caps any single Eligible Purchase at $250 in rewards (25,000 Points), regardless of the rate (5% or 20%).
At 5%, that means rewards on up to $5,000 per purchase (5% of $5,000 = $250).
At 20%, that means rewards on up to $1,250 per purchase (20% of $1,250 = $250).

It explicitly ties to "each" and "per" purchase, so the cap is transaction-specific, not an aggregate across multiple purchases. There's no language limiting you to one such maxed-out purchase.

How This Applies to the 20% Special Offer Period (Nov 17–Dec 8, 2025)

The terms state: "Eligible Participants will earn Points equivalent to 20% cash back on one or more Eligible Purchases up to $1,250 spent."

The "$1,250 spent" phrasing is ambiguous on its own—it could be read as a total across all purchases or per purchase.
But combining it with the "maximum of 25,000 Points... per Eligible Purchase" line, it's clear the $1,250 limit (and thus $250 reward) applies per transaction.

Official PayPal help docs confirm this: "There is no cap on how much cash back you can earn in total over the duration of the campaign" (beyond the global pool), and they note "caps per transaction given loan maximums." Independent deal trackers also interpret it as "$1,250 in spend per transaction," allowing multiple uses.

Bottom line for 20%: No total per-participant limit beyond what's possible via multiple purchases. You could theoretically earn $250 per qualifying purchase, as long as each is ≤$1,250 and uses Pay in 4 or Pay Monthly. (E.g., two $1,250 purchases = $500 total rewards at 20%.) Pay in 4 maxes at $1,500 per purchase anyway, so you'd hit the reward cap at $1,250 spend there.

I think you're way off base here. AI is so confidently wrong at times it's hilarious.

The terms say this:

"During the Special Offer Period, Eligible Participants will earn Points equivalent to 20% cash back on one or more Eligible Purchases up to $1,250 spent."

That to me says the total spend is $1250, period. Whether over 5 transaction at $250 each, or one at $1250, it's still a $1250 max to get 20% back. The verbiage even states it:

"The Offer allows Eligible Participants to earn PayPal Rewards Points ("Points") equivalent to 5% cash back on one or more Eligible Purchases during the Offer Period up to $5,000 spent."

Paypal is just giving you a method to hit the $250 cap more quickly. At 5% you'd have to spend $5000 to hit it, but during the promo period you can do it in $1250 because it's 4x as rewarding!

Calling isn't going to make any difference. The decision to give away a huge amount of cash was already made, and the terms are the terms. Some people are in for a rude awakening if they think they can keep getting $250 back over and over.
