Avoid Aliexpress via Paypal. All, yes ALL, transactions are being processed by Paypal as cash advance! Resulting in Credit Card Issuer inflicting a cash advance transaction fee + accrual of daily interest as high as 28% APR! No way to resolve and all three companies (CC, AE & Paypal) will circle jerk the finger pointing of who is responsible with no solution. Reddit is exploding with many customers getting hit with these fees in the tune of 10's and even 100's of dollars. Avoid!!!

Paying the balance early in Pay Monthly won't violate the terms.

Remove your PayPal account from eBay payment first. Now after making a purchase, it will redirect you to PayPal, pick 'pay in 4' from there.

So many people talking about buying gift cards with this promo, but I'm worried about PayPal not honoring it due to the fine print of the deal. To roll the dice or not?
Agreed, noticed the deal today and started to move but then realized it sounds like it can work for multiple transactions per account and there is only 1.5B points available...which the promo started almost seven days ago, what are the odds there are any left? Hard to say for sure, and for all the effort that is needed, more so for a new account, but heres' to those trying and hope it works out.

Yeah, Paypal's algorithms are weird.

The terms of this promo is questionable too. Maybe we'll find out in ~90d that the funds for this were exhausted days ago and it's a bait&switch to buy things that will be out of return policy or gifted away for the holidays already.. We'll still be on the hook for payment at that point.
It sure seems like that is a very likely outcome here...agreed, but guess time will tell.

Well in the end it is 200-250$ savings for most of us. But the amount of time I spent and anxiety over this offer is higher than it deserved. This makes me question what I have become. But surely this offer will remain my memory for years to come.

I haven't tried it with this promo, but I've done it with PayPal point promos several times before and always got my points. I've also never had pending points fail to credit and there are many DPs here about pending points after GC purchase. It is a gamble, but I think any PayPal deal is.

mine is a business acct and it works fine
Interesting. Deal wouldn't work for me so figured maybe that's the case since my acct never got the offers other people were getting. So I called and they said this only works in personal acct so they downgraded my acct. Now, it's still not working. That's ok, I've been meaning to downgrade my acct anyhow since I no longer sell on Ebay.

I'm getting a little closer though. I can get 3 month pay. I just need Paypal to show 4 month pay. lol

I would think this would work since it shows in my Rewards but I can't for the life of me get it to work. I've tried Walmart and Target. With Target it states Pay in 4 is unavailable. I don't get it.

ETA: Not working at Best Buy either.

I wonder if maybe it only works at the 16 stores listed under (Pay in 4) showing in my acct on the bottom of the offer page. It states it's accept at millions of stores but only about 16 showing in my acct. The stores suck except maybe Ebay which I hadn't bought from in years. I'll try Buydig and see if offer pops up.

ETA: Nope, that didn't work either. I tried Ebags and get Pay in 3 months.

How does the cash back part of the deal work? Does it just show up as a Paypal balance? Can the cash back be used toward the future pay later transactions or do you have to use it in future purchases from third party stores?
They will show uo as points in your account. Points can be converted to cash that goes to your PP balance, so you can just send them to your bank acct if you wish (or use for purchases).

There's plenty. Most of the world deplores Paypal and even if they use it from time to time, they're certainly not going to pick a payment plan for a tiny 20%. They likely believe there is a catch on the interest or some type of late fee. Bi-weekly payment instead of monthly is disturbing to some.

Most people don't have good credit, are not interested in another "line of credit" (along with all the spam/emails/phonecalls) and certainly don't want to ding their credit. Besides, no one clicks on those ads and if they do and they can't find out how to navigate the maze in under 30 seconds....never mind, just use a debit card to complete my payment as usual, get *nothing* in return. They're still writing checks for the float to all the bills so that's out, too. You would be shocked how many people this describes who can't be bothered.

They believe all this nonsense because they aren't on SD where we know (or mostly know) the truth. and there are only a thousand or two of us, gaming the system. We know the true value of 20% in 2025 and more importantly, we recognize that Paypal points are real dollars, not some Ponzi scheme to get you spend more.

You'll be fine.

Yeah, that's what I've typically seen too even when it was technically against the terms. But like you said, always a gamble.

Last night, I made two Pay in 4 purchases with my Amex CC, and the 20% cashback points are pending for both. On the app, it says the points should arrive within 90 days. My girlfriend just used her PayPal account to make a Pay in 4 purchase using her BoA CC, and her points are already available under Rewards. Can anybody else who used Amex confirm whether your points are already available or still pending?

anyone did any returns?

what if I want to do a return of the first purchase ($900 with $180 cashback) and do a new purchase ($1200 with $240 cashback). Will the system honor the 2nd one with full cashback or will it cap and issue only $70 for the new one.

worse the older I get and I was bad at math to begin with! I'm just lucky it works out most of the time. I was not eligible for this so one less thing to worry about.

Do you have to unfreeze your credit report for a soft pull required for this deal?
I'm also wondering this
