Avoid Aliexpress via Paypal. All, yes ALL, transactions are being processed by Paypal as cash advance! Resulting in Credit Card Issuer inflicting a cash advance transaction fee + accrual of daily interest as high as 28% APR! No way to resolve and all three companies (CC, AE & Paypal) will circle jerk the finger pointing of who is responsible with no solution. Reddit is exploding with many customers getting hit with these fees in the tune of 10's and even 100's of dollars. Avoid!!!

Paying the balance early in Pay Monthly won't violate the terms.

Remove your PayPal account from eBay payment first. Now after making a purchase, it will redirect you to PayPal, pick 'pay in 4' from there.

PayPal is offering 20% cash back on Pay Later purchases made through December 8. From December 9 to December 31, the offer changes to 5% cash back. Using Pay in 4 installments has no interest charges, while Pay Monthly plans do include interest. The promotion applies to eligible Pay Later transactions, with cash back capped per transaction.
I did not provide the bank information but my credit card is linked to my PayPal account. My payment is still showing pending authorization. Do I need to link bank account for pay later?

I was going to buy a washer, but the delivery will not happen until Dec 8. I am afraid my washer purchase might be ineligible for the promotion because the T&C states ineligible purchases are (1) purchases that are marked as "pending" as of the end of the Offer Period, (2) purchases with Pay in 4 where the first payment has not been successfully processed. I don't think the merchant will charge my credit card until the washer is shipped.

The PayPal email that came out today saying that you've reached your limit clearly states that your previously earned points during the deal would be honored.
and that is what @CourtC4337 is so worked up about... that you got it and he didn't! and they didn't take it away from you!

While "today" officially starts at 12:00 AM local time in every time zone, when someone in the United States refers to a single, national time for an event or a news cycle, they are almost always referring to the Eastern Time Zone (ET).
And your point is what exactly? Everyone who received the email will get a timestamp based on their associated time zone, which is only a reference point to start with. In the case of PayPal, their HQ is in San Jose, so their offers are based on PT.

For example from their updated offer [paypal.com]:
"Offer Period": Starts on October 6, 2025 and ends on the earlier of December 2, 2025, at 11:59:59 p.m. PT or when the maximum number of PayPal Rewards Points available under this Offer for all Eligible Participants is reached.

PayPal does not require you to link a bank account in order to use Pay in 4. You can fund your Pay in 4 payments using a debit card, credit card, or your PayPal balance. A linked bank account is optional. Many users rely solely on debit/credit cards or PayPal balance for Pay in 4, but the account must be in good standing.

Paypal website says I need to "Save the offer below" but the offer already shows as "Saved". It appears that I'm eligible but I don't recall signing up. Should I be good to go?

I'd really like to know if this promotion is supposed to show up during the checkout process, or are you only notified after making the purchase?

Ive been referring to the original promo, not the new one. Look at the first page of this thread, check whatever you want, you guys never proved anything you just tried to make it seem ambiguous and one guy said a customer service rep said $5000. That was pretty much the only proof you have. Someone who really doesnt even work for paypal but a call center. It was capped at 1250 total and specifically said so. They changed it to one purchase, because some people make sure we can never have nice things
the $5000 comes from the original terms that you seemingly ignore except for that one 1250 line:
The Offer allows Eligible Participants to earn PayPal Rewards Points ("Points") equivalent to 5% cash back on one or more Eligible Purchases during the Offer Period up to $5,000 spent

then they added a 20% cb special period on top of that to cover black friday/cyber monday. Total spend would remain 5000 I would imagine and that's the upper limit of cb for any account until the 1.5billion points was hit. But you believe what you want. Paypal is honoring the terms as people followed it and you are upset because you didn't get it and are trying to argue... that people shouldn't get...something that paypal agreed would be honored... because... you have a different understanding of one line... or we're bad people... or something? i'm all confused at this point what you're even hoping to achieve

Hopefully you get in on the next deal and aren't always so bitter.

no it doesn't. it says eligible previously earned points during the deal would be honored. they're not going to lock in all your shenanigans from earlier.

eligible.

"Any eligible PayPal Pay Later transactions you made before today will receive the benefit of the original offer terms.?
Yes
The Offer allows Eligible Participants to earn PayPal Rewards Points ("Points") equivalent to 5% cash back on one or more Eligible Purchases during the Offer Period up to $5,000 spent
so Total spend is $5,000
For each Eligible Purchase, each Eligible Participant will receive a maximum of 25000 Points, which can be redeemed for $250 cash
so if the 20% had a per eligible transaction cap of $1250 i would assume the cap is 20% of $5000 = $1000 cash back.

The question was what is considered "today". Nearly 50% of the population lives on EST so it's generally accepted as standard time for US.

I "saved" the offer to my Paypal account and then made an $800 purchase through Microsoft (Xbox). I chose "pay in 4" at the Paypal checkout screen, and the $160 in cashback was immediately was shown on the transaction confirmation screen. There was no mention of the offer at checkout. For the people mentioning that they are only seeing "shop now" button when viewing the offer on their Paypal account, look up at the top left of that box - it should show "saved" which means the offer has been saved/added to your account.
