Avoid Aliexpress via Paypal. All, yes ALL, transactions are being processed by Paypal as cash advance! Resulting in Credit Card Issuer inflicting a cash advance transaction fee + accrual of daily interest as high as 28% APR! No way to resolve and all three companies (CC, AE & Paypal) will circle jerk the finger pointing of who is responsible with no solution. Reddit is exploding with many customers getting hit with these fees in the tune of 10's and even 100's of dollars. Avoid!!!

Paying the balance early in Pay Monthly won't violate the terms.

Remove your PayPal account from eBay payment first. Now after making a purchase, it will redirect you to PayPal, pick 'pay in 4' from there.

my "extra" points still show pending - so I'm patiently waiting. Considering the email they sent - I expected them to pay it out.
Extra points meaning anything over 25K?

I've already received my original 25k points, I had several large separate purchases that are still showing the full amount of pending points.

Has anyone gotten over the allowed amount?

I thought the original terms were pretty straightforward that the max would be 25K

tbh, I thought 25k was the account cap too (not going to say it was straightforward, though lol)... Until I other transactions and saw that the full points were pending for each of them. And then I received an email from PayPal saying points for all purchases up to that point would be honored....

Up until 25K yes for multiple transactions.

What information did you read that said otherwise that it would be honored for anything above 25K?

I went slightly over $1250 ($1350 or so) across 2 transactions and it capped mine at 25k.

The points that became redeemable today match the amounts for the two Nov 21 orders (one of which was the one I returned/refunded). The Nov 23 points are still pending when I view the activity in Paypal. This is probably unintentional on Paypal's part but the system is still letting it go through so hopefully others will be as lucky.
Thanks for the info, I'll have to keep an eye on it.

The original terms said "During the Special Offer Period, Eligible Participants will earn Points equivalent to 20% cash back on one or more Eligible Purchases up to $1,250 spent."
This is ambiguous at best. It isn't clear whether the $1,250 cap is per transaction or across all transactions.
Also, the offer card in the iOS app said "Get 20% on up to max $1,250 spend per transaction. Up to 1.5B points available"
This really made it seem as if the original intent was to give 20% back in rewards per transaction with the cap being $1,250 spent per transaction (not in total across multiple transactions).
The email that Paypal sent when the terms were updated said "Any eligible PayPal Pay Later transactions you made before today will receive the benefit of the original offer terms."

Where's that boomer guy that swore up and down PayPal was going to give more than $250 in points since he "ran it through a.i" and confirmed it? He's mysteriously absent now lol

I've read the original terms and the new terms.

It was pretty clear to me. also I read this thread to see what was being reported. If you purchased more then $1250 thinking you were going to get more points then what was outlined good luck.

None. Negative. People are reading the email however they feel like the meaning is suggested. They interpreted the original terms however they felt like it and now they are interpreting the email update *however* they feel like it.

It said "Any eligible PayPal Pay Later transactions you made before today will receive the benefit of the original offer terms."

I think we all received the same email and I don't see the word "honored" in there anywhere. Honored is a buzzword used to convey the message "We screwed up, we give you the benefit of the doubt up until today on previous purchases...." and PayPal never said that, never meant that.

In no way shape or form did they ever intend to provide a penny more than $250 in rewards and under no circumstances did anyone get an email saying "we see how you might have interpreted our meaning incorrectly so we'll let you have all of your points but starting today...."

Still waiting on the apologies for all the people who told us (those of us who said we have doubts and we don't know how it will go, it could go either way) we were wrong, the terms are clear, I called PayPal and they agreed with me, what can't you understand about PER, no gcs, you're going to be sad when the claws come out, blah blah blah....crowd who turned out to be wrong. This thread will be referenced one day in the future, set the record straight now while you can. shake head

A ton of people in this thread disagree with you on the clarity of it. I am usually pretty good at parsing T's & C's and couldn't come to a definitive conclusion myself. Obviously, PayPal realized the terms were ambiguous since they rewrote them and sent out a notice...
So congrats on having figured it out, but it wasn't clear.
edit: same to you, angry kenny
