Milwaukee's M18 track saw stands out as a cordless cutting system that feels close to a table saw for sheet goods and long cuts. It has strong runtime, with dozens of cuts on a 6.0Ah high output battery and even 3.0Ah batteries cutting without issue. The saw shares track compatibility with Makita and some third party rails, and the riving knife and single battery setup give it an edge over the Makita version. The main drawbacks are the two piece track seam, which can snag or leave a slight curve, and the need to sort out battery compatibility or adapters.

Looks like $429 now. Am I missing something or did it go up?

Any hope on Makita coming on sale?
Oddly enough, Makita doesn't seem to go 'on sale' very often. I got my Makita 36V tracksaw via Acme @ $470 in 2019, fwiw - it came with a dual charger, 4 batteries, and 39" + 55" tracks.

Are there adapters for battery? I had no clue
Yes. As long as the voltage is the same (18V), it should work. There are multiple to choose from on Amazon, and most have good reviews.

I came just to say after using a corded saw version of something like this, I will not go back to something like a saw guide clamp. This type of tool is definitely worth it.

Someone just needs to release a track that is 100 inches long......and that is NOT in 2 separate pieces. I'm inclined to believe they make it this way for transportation and store shelf display purposes. People go to Home Depot and Menards to buy 8-ft long wooden pieces all the time and I never see them complaining. Having used several tracks, the 2-piece is super annoying - no matter how tight you get the screws, there's always a bit of snag/kink when you cross over that seam and after cutting a few pieces of wood and moving the track around, the screw ever so-slightly gets loose - so there's a slight curve to the cut-pieces where the 2 tracks meet (let's just say I messed up a ton of expensive wood while working on my wood slat project).
Festool sells the longer tracks but... it's Festool. Be prepared for a nice price tag. lol

....no thanks! LOL. I was at Rockler Wood store the other time and was looking at a bunch of Fest-Tool stuff and it's literally the Ferrari/Rolls-Royce of wood tools.

Yes, it's two separate items so it can and probably will ship separately.

I've got both the Makita 36V and this Milwaukee M18. Both are great saws, similar in power. One battery design and having a riving knife gives the Milwaukee a slight edge. Still have both because I haven't wanted to sell one, nor buy Milwaukee tracks for the M18 - but they do share track compatibility.

There are multiple 100"+ one-piece tracks out there, but they're not cheap - $250-300+. Makita has a 118", Milwaukee has a 106" one, but it's all relatively thin aluminum (Milwaukee being the thickest), it'll dent and deform in transit long before an 8ft wood board would. Shrink (damage/loss) can be pretty significant on long/thin items like this.

100"+ isn't exactly easy to transport/move around in use & around the shop, either.

Not really. I've cut through near 2" maple with my Makita without fuss, and I've seen the M18 demonstrated similarly.. but haven't used it to cut any thick hardwood yet. Modern brushless motors are intense.
Can you use the same track with both the Makita and the Milwaukee?

I'm pretty sure Rockler has 20% off every Black Friday. No?

Yes - I did say they do share track compatibility. You just can't combine the two different brand tracks together because the Milwaukee one is thicker.
I believe the WEN, Festool, and Powertec tracks are compatible with M18/Makita tracks saws too, though the anti-tip function might not work.

Dewalt tracks are definitely NOT compatible with the M18 or Makita track saws though.
