How is the battery on this as far as expanding and heat? I'm so hesitant to get another HP because of how mine is now, expanded and bloated but supposedly not part of the recalls...

This is a phenomenal deal, buy without hesitation! I've been in the market for a month and kept waiting for something to check all of the boxes, & finally pulled the trigger on this. The latest AI processor (I would have been fine at Ryzen/Intel ultra 5, but I'll take the upgrade on this), one of the best *integrated* graphics card (good enough to play many games without needing to get a more expensive & bulky gaming laptop with a dedicated graphics card), under 4 lbs, 16gb+ ram (inability to expand is annoying, but had to make a sacrifice somewhere), and sub $500-600. This being well below that is icing on the cake.
Hard to locate port information, but according to Walmart's AI shopping agent 'sparky': The HP OmniBook 5 features a versatile port selection. It includes two USB Type-C ports with a 10Gbps signaling rate, which support USB Power Delivery 3.1, DisplayPort 1.4a, and HP Sleep and Charge. Additionally, there are two USB Type-A ports, one with a 10Gbps signaling rate and another with a 5Gbps signaling rate. For video output, it has an HDMI 2.1 port. The laptop is powered by a 65W USB Type-C power adapter.
I would have loved to have one USB C port be gen 4 (thunderbolt 40 gbps) & expandable RAM, but at this price it's not at all a dealbreaker.

This post has a better processor and graphics processor, the one in the link is slightly cheaper and has a touchscreen, is a 2-in-1, and is a more premium shell.
