this thing is so crappy that it has higher latency than the previous generation nest wifi, actual experience.

this only has 1GbE ports according to listing - so - not going to be too useful for 10Gbps fiber even on wired.

Here is my ping from google just now
Minimum = 20ms, Maximum = 22ms, Average = 21ms
I have had it for almost a year and 40 connected items and nothing lags, ever.

2.4ghz and 5ghz has to be same SSID: this is bad
Doesn't work with smart home items that need to connect to 2.4 only, I switched to TP Link because my smart garage opener didn't connect to this.

I bought these when they came out. To replace the previous generation ones. I had the first gen too.
These were terrible, I would have to restart them all the time. My desktop network connection would slow down, and I had them hardwired. Then I gave them away and got unifi stuff, which has worked out great.
The person I gave them to uses them as a mesh, they seem to be performing worse than they did for me. I feel bad for giving an awful gift.

Literally one of the only routers I've ever bought where I regretted the purchase. Awful wireless mesh performance (because they only use 6Ghz for mesh backhaul, rather than 5Ghz like the previous generation, each access point has to be much closer together and is more negatively impacted by walls and doors). I experience frequent mesh disconnects and my wireless speeds are 30% of normal in far areas of my house. (These are well documented issues on google's forums and reddit)
Also, they only have gigabit Ethernet ports so if you're buying these with a gigabit+ internet plan, you're limiting your entire network's speed right from the modem.
I ended up giving these away and buying a Ubiquiti Dream Router 7 - I would also take a look at Eero.
Based on my research of reading various online articles regarding tri-band mesh routers, a Wifi 6 tri-band mesh router was the right choice for me (I choose eero Pro 6 off of Mecrardi). This is because the trade-off of replacing the extra 5 GHz band with the 6 GHz band was not justified since I have under 600 mbps internet service so the 5 GHz band is enough to give me 600 mbps speeds. I also read that sometimes the 6 GHz goes completely unused due to the shorter range than 5 GHz and the wireless backhaul and fronthaul both end up using use the 5 GHz band; essentially, making your tri-band router a dual-band router. So I would recommend a tri-band Wifi 6 mesh router over a 6E or 7 tri-band mesh router for the following reasons: if you have 1 gbps or lower internet service, will be using wireless backhaul, have only a few Wifi 6E and 7 devices, have obstructions that may make the router always use the 5 GHz band and leave the 6 GHz band unused, and don't want to spend plenty money for a quad-band router with two 5GHz bands.

Dang. I've had the exact opposite experience. It has been a massive upgrade from my old Linksys router. I have intermittent issues but that is my Internet provider, not the routers

I "upgraded" my Nest Wifi 2 gen (4 routers with wired backhaul connection) for this today. Got the 3 pack for $100. My setup is a wired backhaul, so we will see how it works. So far it's great! Never had an issue with my Gen 2, maybe i restarted it twice in the 3 years I had it.

There is one situation where 6GHz is a better solution. In congested environments with lot of 5Ghz in use, there will be less interference with 6GHz. The big downside to 6GHz is that range is lesser than 5GHz whose range is lesser than 2.4GHz

I received mine today but def. looks used - there isn't even a manual with it and the bottoms of pods are heavily scratched which indicates USED... Should I just get a Flint 3 instead that is brand new on sale for $152?

Mine had an open box sticker dated 9/26 on it with a "good" rating, and another dated 10/7 directly on top of that one with an "excellent" rating. This makes me feel like it was returned twice. I'm hesitant to set it up?

Might be dead, price is now $119; however, ordered twice and both got canceled a few minutes after the order status was "Reserving".
update Nov24: was able to get a 2 pack for roughly the same price per unit as the 3p, thanks
