I am as well and am contemplating getting this one. I bought the Amyet S8 with intentions of having a second passenger. It is doable and have been doing it, but it's not very comfortable for the rider (me, in my case) scooting all the way up closer to the handle bars. I love the bike though. I think something with a dedicated seat would work better for my purposes.

As far as safety, that is kind of up to the person in control of the bike. You can go as fast or slow as you like and where you want to go. I give my kids rides, but only around local streets when/where there is very little to no cars and never go full speed.

P.S. My second passengers are not two/three year old's like the one in the Aliexpeess picture lol

looked at the video and it seems there is no shifter and gears. so what, no pedaling above 10mph? I'm sure the top speed is true, but this just makes closer to an e-scooter.

there is a reason why other 2 seater bikes have much larger brake rotors...

Don't waste your time. I bought one that was mentioned here 11/01. Still have not received anything. Still tracking number is a BS, it's just a pure scam.

There is not going to be any type of roll cage or anything and can't imagine what you imagine. Bikes have inherent risk as does everything. If you choose not to bike ride and go to the restaurant you may die in your car that is unsafe. Houses are unsafe as they have so many risks in them it is wonder anyone can sleep at night

It is not the bike you have to worry about it is the motorists.

Professional bicycle mechanic, shop owner, and 30 year industry vet chiming in just to give my $0.02. These bikes are absurdly lo quality. They use a ton of stamped steel parts that are barely functional, the brakes are woefully insufficient to strop the extremely heavy weight and speed of the bike, and the batteries are unsafe to store. We do not allow these in the shop for 2 main reasons: 1) my insurance will not cover it if the battery explodes and burns down the shop, because they are not UL listed and the shell company selling them does not carry insurance, 2) I cannot make them functional and safe without substantial work and parts replacement. This is 100% a situation where you get what you pay for.

Regarding insurance, anyone buying one of these should look into their homeowners/rental policy as there are very specific requirements for coverage when storing batteries like this, and these batteries are prone to failure and when they fail it is catastrophic. Specifically, most policies exclude coverage for any li-ion battery that is not UL listed, and for those that are require separate, fire safe storage and charging. I have two customers that have had house fires due to e-bike batteries blowing up, one lost a barn, the other lost his garage and 50% of his house. Luckily nobody was hurt in either instance, but tragically two pets were lost. I also had a customer who was driving from Maryland to Florida on a hot day with the bike on a rack on the back of her car when the battery exploded in the sunlight, as she crossed a bridge. She pulled over as soon as she got to the other side and got herself and her dog out before the car was totaled.

The other consideration is that this bike exceeds the legal speed and power defined for e-bikes in many states, and as such if there was any type of accident or injury to someone using it, coverage would again be denied as it is now supposed to be registered as a motor vehicle (many states, not all, check your local rules).

Subjectively, these bikes ride lack crap, have terrible, twitchy handling, are heavy as sin, they come out of the box un-tuned (brakes/shifting need substantial work to get close to functional) and most shops will refuse service and not even let it in the door to protect themselves from being part of the liability chain.

Of course. But is it a good deal?
