Keep one of these on my workbench. It handles about 95% of jobs. The other 5% are handled by a more extensive bit set I keep in a drawer.

Got 2 of these last time they were on sale. They are great stocking stuffer. The perfect desk screw driver that lives in the pencil cup. What I love is that all the bits are neatly stored in a magnetic pull-out end that lets you choose your two-sided bit. I picked this up in Feb for $10. Sits on my desk and is great for small/odd jobs. Feels sturdy and the internal bit storage is great. Only downside is that there is no extension. The bits are short so if you have a recessed screw, you can run into an issue.
