That's an incredible deal! I just bought it over weekend at Best Buy for $1299. I was hoping for this price drop so they could price match and refund me the difference while it's still within their return or exchange policy.

This is much better for bright rooms. I am contemplating getting one for my covered porch.

I chose miniLED over OLED for this reason. I could finally see a normal TV screen with the curtains open during the day.

That is not true at all. I do not have a reward program membership.

Yeah, there are many OLEDs at this price point; not sure why anyone would want to buy this when you can get an B5 for $1000, S84F for $900 and a Bravia 8 for $1200.
This is a better TV than the LG B5 and it is closer in performance to the C5. Also it is better for bright rooms. I was debating on buying the C5, but went with the QM8K over the weekend because I was hoping for this price drop and price match the difference from BB during the return/exchange period which I got today. Good luck finding a C5 at this price point. While their performance is nearly identical. You can compare them on RTINGS.com

MiniLED TVs these days are not any worse than OLED.

So the LG B5 would be a good choice over this?
Hell no

Best Buy has 60 day price match if it does with their program which is like $50 I think.

Edit: according to this you don't even need Best Buy plus. Yes, Best Buy has a Holiday Price Match Guarantee for most products purchased between October 31 and December 31, which allows you to request a price match on their own price if it goes lower before January 15, 2026. This is an extension of their normal price match policy, but it specifically covers price drops from Best Buy itself, not competitor prices.
I can attest to that. I bought the this TV this past weekend in hopes it would drop in price. Since I have a Best Buy online account, they were able to price match the difference and I got a refund today. I don't have a Best Buy Plus.

Nice I didnt know they would price match their own Black Friday pricing

They are one of the very few that do any type of price matching anymore against competition

It's targeted/not everyone gets it unfortunately.

I also paid for one using PayPal's pay in 4 option after getting the targeted 20% cash back offer. Right now it says 19,080 points pending (20% of [$900 + 6% sales tax]) so it seems promising.

Coming from a home theater specialist, this TV will outclass any entry level OLED. Not only the sound, but the picture will be about 97% to OLED levels due to the thousands of miniLED backlight zones. This beats all $1,000 OLEDs except for maybe the holiday Bravia 8 (xr8b or something) (due to the processing and surface acoustic audio+)

about 97% like an OLED doesn't say it outclasses the OLEDs. I'm not a OLED fanatic or a MiniLED hater and I understand that the OLEDs are not for everyone but let's not pretend that miniLEDs picture quality will outclass OLEDs; it will not. Granted, OLEDs have many flaws that need to be considered before making a decision. If you are a picture quality purists you will know the difference. It is fair to say, for an average person, it may not even be noticeable without a side by side comparison. For the price, size and many use cases, MiniLEDs are great but when the prices are same, I would be hard pressed to recommend a MiniLED over an OLED.

This is a very nice deal
Dare I say this has to be one of the top mini LED's this year

The step up would be the Sony Bravia 9 and its more than 2X the price

We don't live in 2020 anymore. The newer oleds can achieve higher peak brightness than many mini-led TVs of that time.
Mini-led tvs still are multiple times brighter than even today's OLEDs, it is not even close. HDR content especially will take advantage of the peaks.

I tested this personally... I decided to return the flagship 83 inch LG G4 OLED and get the 98 inch qm8k because the blacks were very close, but the mini LED absolutely destroyed the OLED in HDR & SDR brightness.

Picture quality aside, the TCL comes w a more premium, sleek backlit remote w metal face, while the G4 comes with the same chunky, non backlit plastic remote as my LG B2.
