The AW3423DWF is a glossy 34 inch QD OLED ultrawide that stands out for gaming, with vivid colors, strong immersion, and a 165Hz panel that feels like a major upgrade over older LCD ultrawides. Dell's 3 year burn in warranty and generally better warranty coverage are recurring advantages, and the sale price around $500 makes it look especially strong value. The main tradeoffs are OLED upkeep, possible text fringing, and a very forward stand that may need a deep desk or arm mount. Some units also arrive with joystick, coating, cable, or faint whine issues, so it suits gamers who can live with OLED quirks.

How's the text fringing? I think that was a major complaint when this came out.

I'm considering a 4k OLED 32" or something like this...

Alienware monitors are expensive and they feel somewhat plasticky. It's a bit disappointing.

This deal aw3425dw is great too:
https://slickdeals.net/f/18820675-alienware-aw3425dw-34-uwqhd-240hz-qd-oled-650-or-less
It's $585 after a 10% Dell sign up coupon, plus Dell has 10% CB. Ended up paying $526.50+tax.
You can also use AMEX 15% CB and if you pay with PayPal Pay in 4, get an additional 20% CB.

This panel doesn't do 10bit at 165hz. You'd have to set a custom refresh lower than 165 to do it. It's a downside but seriously not that noticable for day to day stuff. I however ended up returning this because of Dells horrible customer service and QA...2/2 had issues out of the box.

10% sign up coupon, $100 off amex for $500 (although now i need to add an accessory to get back to $500), 10% CB on cb site. tempting. my friends kid stepped on (wheb moving houses) and broke my last ultrawide QHD monitor so I suddenly need a new one. biggest complaint on my old one was color wasn't remotely as vibrant as my oled TV, so determined to get OLED as replacement. are there cheaper alternatives?

Is this monitor not good for productivity?
Burn-in is a concern, I've read that users have had to get clever with how they display (or don't) the Windows taskbar, for example. Some also complain about how text is displayed on these QD-OLED panels.

Replaced by newer model; still a great gaming monitor. The newer model AW3425 DW has hdmi 2.1, is more gaming console friendly and has a 240hz refresh rate...making it more future proof. If none of these really matter to you, then the AW3423 is great being an OLED panel 165hz refresh rate for under $500.

First one had a defective menu joystick (left/right works but not up/down). Second one had micro swirls all around the screen despite brand new with foam film attached and sealed.

Can a monitor nerd weigh in on this vs the LG 34GX900A-B, which is often available for ~$630? 800R vs 1800R, two year warranty on LG and three year on Dell.
I can't comment on the differences other than agreeing the Dell Warranty is better.
However, RTINGS has this monitor reviewed pretty well compared to that one

Thanks, ultimately it was the curve that sold me on the LG, I really like the 800R for my use case and vision, the AW felt flat. Amazon offered me $100 to keep the AW, it's still going back.
