Pretty darn good deal. Tough choice between this one and the
Lenovo BF deal.
Major concern with the Lenovo is battery life, sounds like it's not great even with the GPU turned off. A lot of reviews have beat HP up over the keyboard but I tried it in store and after a VERY brief test I didn't think there was an issue, and I'm picky about keyboards.
I wonder what people who obsess over laptops think about these two options?
For those who hate BB's 14 day return policy, purchases are currently eligible for return until Jan 14.

Edit: For kicks I went and tried it again and this time I didn't have a problem with the trackpad while typing.
What is actually a dealbreaker for me here is the fact that the camera doesn't allow facial recognition for Windows Hello. Even though the specs don't say so, it sounds like it has a fingerprint sensor for Windows Hello but I much prefer it to be enabled with the camera.
If you're looking at raw specs, the Costco Ideapad probably has the best specs for $1000. But it's not a Copilot+ which means it isn't capable of doing a handful of things today and the list will only grow. And the battery life isn't great thanks to ultra 9 + dedicated GPU + oled.
If you want max battery life the Lenovo Aura at BB or HP Omnibook 7 Flip at Costco are $1000 and will go longer on a charge. Caveat is that I have had two of the Omnibooks and the keyboard on both has had an issue, which is a bummer because otherwise I love it.
This Omnibook X is kind of the middle ground, if you can live with the keyboard.
Those are just the ones I gave serious consideration to because they have a camera that is compatible with Windows Hello. Once you've experienced that, it's really hard to use a computer without it.
As for antivirus, I just rely on Microsoft Defender instead of installing third party software. It does the job without nagging you or affecting performance.
