The stupid DirecTV Stream app doesn't have a way to fast forward/rewind without continuously clicking the click pad.
Also, these appear on ebay all the time around this price point. This is not any sort of real bargain.

You saved me $40 and a hassle.
I had similar issue with my Harmony remotes back in 2018. Bought a second non-touch screen remote, but NO, you can only pair one touch screen remote (like the Elite) and one non-touch screen (Companion or Smart Control) but not two of either. What?
Still use Harmony remotes in both rooms because the Apple Remote power button is not programmable and pitifully inadequate.

They could likely fix it in a software update, but this is a 17 year old iOS (and tvOS) limitation, and they haven't even acknowledged it as a problem; and actually used it as a competitive advantage for AirPods/Beats via Audio Sharing.
It is paired and the original apple remote is still paired as well.
The best part by far is the "scroll-wheel" scrubbing supported by the native Apple TV video ui. Basically, if you pause what you're watching and rest your thumb on the outer ring of the d-pad, the icon will change to a wheel and you can scroll around the d-pad, similar to the old scroll wheel iPod movement. It's great for scrubbing through a long movie where you don't quite know where you left off. Very precise but also can be scrolled super fast to skip far ahead.
No offense to anyone at all but I honestly do not understand how people lose this so easily. It's small, clearly, but like.. put it on a table or in any specific spot when you're done? It's like roughly half the size of an iPhone which I feel most people manage to keep track of. Obviously children or guests can do weird things but it's also fairly heavy for its size and, I dunno, we have two of these in two different rooms and we very very rarely actually lose them.

It's not as nice as the real thing, but it works okay and, GET THIS, I've never lost it.
Knock on wood.
Guess I'll have to stop making fun of old people with giant remotes now.
