I was able to get for $0.99 for 3 months
For current users - not a new user. I've searched for hacks and couldn't find anything.
Even saw some reports on Reddit of Amazon getting upset if you gift yourself a year membership.

Like others, you can't be a prior member of Kindle Unlimited to get this deal. Just tried doing the app and signing up that was but it's the same 11.99/month price.
I wish there was an easier way to do a 6-12 annual pricing without doing the "gift of a membership." thing.
