The PS5 Pro is mainly a premium upgrade for players who want the best console performance, especially in a few games that benefit from higher settings and smoother frame rates. It can make sense for couch play after long workdays, and the extra cost may feel more reasonable if this is the first PS5 or if specific titles like GT7 in VR or Final Fantasy remake matter most. The main drawback is that it is not a huge leap over the base PS5, and the $649.99 price feels steep for the gains. It is a niche upgrade rather than a broad must have.
Couch gamers coming off long workdays, because the console lets them relax back with a controller instead of sitting upright at a desk.
Players chasing the highest settings and refresh rates in competitive games, because the upgrade can deliver the best graphics and frame rates at once.
Owners of a standard PS5 who mainly play a few demanding titles, because the upgrade is game-by-game and can clean up performance issues in those games.
If you already have a strong PC, the PS5 Pro is harder to justify because the PC library is much larger and many Sony exclusives arrive on PC after a couple of years. The console still makes sense if you prefer couch play and the PlayStation ecosystem.
For most people, it is not a big step up from the standard PS5. The Pro is mainly worth considering if you want the absolute best settings and refresh rates in specific games, but the upgrade value is game-dependent and often just cleans up titles that already had performance issues.
Yes, Best Buy has open-box units reportedly down to $564, and one buyer also mentioned getting a used PS5 Pro with a disc drive and extra controller for $580. There was also a report of 20% cashback when checking out at Best Buy with PayPal Pay Later.
Yes, certain games can benefit noticeably, especially GT7 in VR and Final Fantasy remake. Outside those titles, the Pro is mostly a refinement over the base PS5 rather than a dramatic leap.

Nowadays a PS5 pro or not, is for people that can't get a gaming or a laptop PC. The amount of games that you can play in a PC quadruples the PS5, as the PS5 is limited to PS4 and PS5 games catalogue. I don't count PS streaming, as the experience varies by internet connection. Also in PC there are ways to get delisted games and other games for a cheaper price.
Or for these who work 9-12 hours in sitting position. It's a torture to sit upright in front of a computer after that many hours playing games. Laying back on a couch with a controller (moving 2 fingers and 2 thumbs) and bottle of icy soda is a refreshing process. That being said, I miss the days I made my computer multi-purpose. Btw I bought my used PS5 pro 580$ with disc drive and extra controller from a lawyer on my road trip.
Is the pro really worth it? I many game on pc with a 5080 and a 9800X3D on an odyssey OLED 49". I have the old ps5 on a c1 65" OLED. I sit like 10 feet from the tv. Idk if it's worth it if my pc is "high end" .... thoughts?
If you already have a standard PS5, I don't think it's worth worth it to upgrade, because it's not a big step up.
If this will be your first PS5, and you have some disposable income, it might be worth the extra 250 bucks if you want to get the absolute most out of your games. But even then, it comes down to your priorities. The standard PS5 runs everything fine. I think the only thing that might be worth paying Pro money for is for competitive games, so you can simultaneously run them with the highest graphic settings and highest refresh rates possible. But, I'd assume you will probably play most competitive games on PC anyway.
TL/DR: Not worth it for most people IMO. But if you've got the spare cash and you want the best, go for it.

I felt this way when I traded in my ps4 for the ps4 pro at GameStop. I really didn't see the difference. Thanks!

It really comes down to the few games that benefit significantly by it. I've heard gt7 in VR, final fantasy remake and a few others have worthwhile improvements, but it's a game by game situation. Of course, it's not leaps beyond the base ps5, mostly cleaning up games that had performance issues before.

What's wild is I had a ps5 day one but I finished TLOU2, death stranding, helldivers and days gone on PC. The ps5 exclusives I've played on the console were only the Spider-Man games, horizon zero dawn, astrobot and the ghost games. Sony has some great exclusives and some I'm not willing to wait years for.

I can't tell if you're asking genuinely or just low-key bragging about your setup.
