Just a warning as a user of a Motorola phone. I have a phone that is a 2024 model, and it is already two android versions behind, and they will drop security updates for my phone in November of 2026. So, of all of the phone brands, Motorola supports their phones for the shortest amount of time. If you are lucky, they might support it for two or three years. So, if you buy this phone, it's probably only going to get updates until the end of 2026.

This is an excellent phone. Highly recommended. Responsive, headphone jack, magnetic charging, sd card, etc. Runs great.

Never understood this update hysteria.

What do you need security updates for? North korean porn browsing?

It's a phone. It calls people. It texts people. It lets you browse normal websites. It may even play a game. If you don't do things on it that you wouldn't want your GF/wife to see you never need any updates.

My Motorola E play from like 2016 still does all these things. Slow. But still does it. Never once in its life it needed "updates". Whatever your phone is, is the best it will ever going to be, no updates will make it faster or better.

By the time updates run out you will buy another phone anyway.

I've had this phone since it came out batteries the same pretty much lasts two days of normal use. Newest Android update allows you to stop charging at 80% that will help with the battery lasting longer. When I'm just sitting around the house I usually charge from like 25% to 80 percent . Again had this for years and it easily beats out iPhones battery life by miles. If you are out all day and definitely not going back to a battery the battery saver is a lifesaver and will last you from 8:00 AM to 1:00 AM believe me I know taking pictures all day and using GPS to get around.

If you get this phone check out Gcam BSG Stable BSG 9.3 MGC_9.3.160_V34 (BSG, 2025-06-07 https://www.celsoazevedo.com/file...a/dev-bsg/ . There are a lot of buggier updates but I just use the stable versions which are highlighted in bold Red. The newest stable version has all the features that we could want on our Moto phones.

Really only changed exposure compensation to +4 in the rear camera settings. That is for indoor shots "pixels" seem to take darker photos than a Samsung. With this gcam takes perfect shots no Complaints.

Here are my photos from Paris 3am tell me it doesn't take good photos. Straight out of Gcam.

I got same phone from total wireless now unlocked. It's the link you provided is for camera app? Does it needs bootloader unlocked?

How do i get rid of useless apps shipped with it?

Are you talking about a completely different phone? Motorola doesn't do themselves any favors with their naming scheme, but the Moto G Stylus is not just the Moto G but with a stylus included. The Moto G is their barebones economy phone, the Stylus is the top end of their G series. I don't have either of the phones, but have had several iterations of other Moto Gs and they were all good for their prices. The cheap ones were functional but had their limitations, namely a lack of RAM.

It's not really forced obsolescence in this case. It turns out because of how Android is designed, it's not trivial to enable a new version to be installed on a given piece of hardware. It's a significant investment on the part of a company to support a new version of Android for a particular phone. That's why the companies that make it a big selling point to provide long-term OS and security update support still cut it off after maybe 5-7 years. At that point, the vast majority of people would upgrade their phones anyway, so it's no longer worth the cost to keep supporting them. Companies like Motorola save money on long-term OS support and use that to allow them to sell phones cheaper and still make a profit.

I have the total wireless version of the 2024, and like it so far. But it's just a spare phone to me

That said, the price at total wireless was just $40 ... w/ cashback... and a month of unlimited. It'd likely take 2 months to get it unlocked, which I may not do with this one.

If willing to deal with Total wireless, porting a number and ID stuff, it is a bit cheaper.

If calculating the 1 month unlimited plan at around $15ish (cheapest I ever see such plans), and with cashback, I think the phone cost me like $7.

It is just another camera app you just downloaded and install. I got mine from total wireless as well.
Go into apps in settings and disable anything you don't like it won't come back. I have disabled these

You must have a different model with less RAM. This phone has 8gb RAM, which is further expandable with storage. I have no problems with apps getting killed.
