The PS5 Pro deal stands out as a strong way to cut the console price with Dell credits, Amex, cash back, and occasional PayPal Pay in 4 savings. The Pro is framed as the best upgrade for 4K setups that want smoother frame rates, extra storage, and a likely final hardware refresh before the next generation. The main cautions are the missing disc drive, possible need for a separate drive for physical games, and some discount stacks not always combining cleanly. Timing and stock also matter, since shipping estimates shifted and the bundle sold out and came back in stock.
Common Questions (5)
Yes, PayPal Pay in 4 cashback has been used with this purchase, and it can beat the $100 Amex credit on a higher-priced checkout. The catch is that PayPal requires four interest-free installments and a soft credit check, so it adds credit and payment risk.
Yes, the $100 Amex statement credit can stack with Dell's sale price and other Dell-side discounts because Amex credits are based on the final dollars charged. The credit has posted in as little as 3 days, though it can take up to 90 days.
Not always. Using the Dell 10% sign-up coupon can void cash back site tracking under the site's terms, so the coupon and portal cashback may not stack cleanly.
The PS5 Pro uses an M.2 expansion slot, so you can move your existing 2TB SSD into the Pro's expansion slot and leave the original PS5's onboard storage alone. The original PS5's built-in drive is not the part you normally remove.
No, the PS5 Pro is sold without a disc drive, so physical game owners need to budget about $70 extra for the add-on drive. That missing drive is the main reason some shoppers passed on the deal.

I too was wondering if the shipping estimate was correct - good to know that it probably is not and might arrive sooner. That was a bit of a deterrent for me.

I am opting not to do this because while it should not be reported to the credit bureau, according to ChatGPT, there is a chance it is reported even if paid on time, and some lenders might not be favorable on people who pay in installments. ChatGPT also noted that PayPal might inadvertently report a late payment even if it was paid on time. All in all, probably not worth the risk for me.
