The PS5 Pro deal stands out as a strong way to cut the console price with Dell credits, Amex, cash back, and occasional PayPal Pay in 4 savings. The Pro is framed as the best upgrade for 4K setups that want smoother frame rates, extra storage, and a likely final hardware refresh before the next generation. The main cautions are the missing disc drive, possible need for a separate drive for physical games, and some discount stacks not always combining cleanly. Timing and stock also matter, since shipping estimates shifted and the bundle sold out and came back in stock.

  • The Amex $100 statement credit can effectively reduce the PS5 Pro price to about $549 after accounting for the credit.

  • Dell orders can qualify for stacked savings using a 10% sign-up coupon, PayPal Pay in 4 cash back, and Dell Rewards points.

  • Dell Rewards points can post after shipping and can be used toward future purchases, including controller discounts.

  • The PS5 Pro can recognize an existing 2TB NVMe drive moved into the Pro's expansion slot for expanded storage.

  • The 10% email sign-up coupon can fail to arrive, requiring troubleshooting and possible customer service follow-up.

  • Cash-back tracking can show $0 pending or require a missing-cashback form, and coupon stacking rules may void cash back.

  • The $100 Amex offer may be ineligible when student or military discounts are applied under Membership Purchase Program terms.

  • PayPal Pay in 4 savings can carry reporting and late-payment risk concerns despite being structured as no-interest installments.

There's also a PayPal deal that can be used on the PS5 at Best Buy, and maybe other places. Best Buy has this on sale for $650 as well. You can see details on the other PS5 thread and also the PayPal thread on Slickdeals. Basically it is 20% off cash back if you check out with PayPal, but you need to pay in four no interest installments. It does require a soft credit check.

I am opting not to do this because while it should not be reported to the credit bureau, according to ChatGPT, there is a chance it is reported even if paid on time, and some lenders might not be favorable on people who pay in installments. ChatGPT also noted that PayPal might inadvertently report a late payment even if it was paid on time. All in all, probably not worth the risk for me.

That is a load of rubbish. I've been using PayPal payments for years and my credit score is over 850. Stop believing AI and use some natural intelligence instead. If you pay your bills on time it will never hurt your credit, in fact that's how you build it.
I 100% second Jason4179's response to your nonsense...I too use PayPal extensively, have 2 credit cards from them and also have used the pay-in-4 service so many times (at one point I had 20 purchases going at the same with this service when I purchased my new home and needed to buy quite a few items at the same time without using all of my cash on hand). Many big retailers use and offer PayPal as a payment option due to their now secure and flexible payment plans options. This is all my own experience and not what AI BOTS spew without any evidence or data to back their claims/statements.

I am clueless about the console market:
Will Sony releaze anything newer by the GTA 6 release date?
No. PS5 Pro was the mid-generation refresh. The next system will be PS6 in (likely) 2027.

But... PS and XBox release "updated" versions of the Pro! (even of the base consoles in the past). I.e. Updated GPU, HDD, or fans, or ... Any news of the PS Pro getting an update this Holiday season? One will come for sure, just don't know when.

It's already out in Europe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kk3oxSQ_UwM

It is 2-3% more power efficient, but most of the changes are cost cutting.

Different scores. When people say credit score in the US they generally refer to the FICO score, which tops at 850.

The 900 one is most likely the FICO Bankcard Score, which is an industry specific score for credit card lenders.

The Xbox One X was Microsoft's equivalent of PS4 Pro back in like 2017, and it did not get updated further.

PS5 Pro will not get updated further. This is as good as it'll get before next generation in 2027.

I held out against the Pro but finally pulled the trigger with this deal. While I am annoyed it's basically a $50 price cut since they just raised the price a few months ago, the extra $100 on trade in plus the PayPal Pay in 4 pushed me over the edge.

I took out the 2TB NVME drive I put in the PS5 and moved it to the Pro and it recognized the games I had installed on it. Having now 4TB of space is also nice since I tend to install quite a few games between myself and the kids and jump between them depending what people want to play.

I wouldn't advise anyone stretch their budget for this, but if you like your current PS5 and since even if rumors are true the next gen is still a couple years away most likely and a Pro is likely to get better trade in (or private party) value at that point, now is probably one of the better chances.

Yeah, I have a PC which I use more often. I really just picked up the pro for GTA6 and some other exclusives. I might start demon souls.
