No, it just temporarily freshens the air. For shoes try baking soda or washing them in a white vinegar solution.

Best bet for removing odor, assuming it's boots/athletic shoes is drying them out. Boot warmers work well but are kind of expensive, I use 2 of the USB powered desk fans from Walmart combined with those little plastic deodorizer shoe balls in each shoeband that removes odors for cheap. Moisture is the main problem with odor.
