This should be about the price available regularly considering the competition
Additionally based on the fact that Denon/ Marantz sales are off over 25 percent year over year, per the reports, this makes sense
There are people of AVS forum reporting that they have bought this unit from smaller retailers for about $2k ish for a few months now
Good luck finding a 13 channel unit that supports wides, 6 object based channels, all channels assignable, independent preamp mode, 4 independent sub outs, access to all 3 Dirac RCs, access to A1EVO for this price!

I haven't had that much time with it yet but I'm pretty impressed with A1 Evo Express. Wasn't too hard to do especially compared to the "non-express" stuff that seems much more involved/complicated and as far as I could tell it did make a noticeable difference over Audyssey XT32 especially with subwoofer output (I have two SVS SB-2000's).
What do you think of A1 Evo Express? If I bought a miniDSP UMIK-1 USB mic and did a more involved calibration with A1 Evo, would it make a noticeable difference? I've only ever done the typical Audyssey calibrations before so this is all new to me.
Can't see myself paying $799 for the Dirac ART bundle and then having to buy a microphone on top of that.

For now the room that I have it in can't flex that extra speakers at this time however in a couple years if I move and get a proper room hopefully I'm able to get one of these maybe secondhand and it will be a great upgrade

I share this because apparently 99% of all receivers are no longer repairable nowadays, rendering any purchase a 100% loss once out of warranty, so do your research and don't spend a penny more than needed. A "high-end" or high-priced AVR unit is rarely needed imo, especially if you're connecting amps.
For this specific unit, I've seen it for around $2K off and on in different places. I personally wouldn't touch it now, or ever..

I share this because apparently 99% of all receivers are no longer repairable nowadays, rendering any purchase a 100% loss once out of warranty, so do your research and don't spend a penny more than needed. A "high-end" or high-priced AVR unit is rarely needed imo, especially if you're connecting amps.

FYI, I believe the Japan made units like yours had a 3 year warranty so the failures should have been covered if they failed in 25 months.

The UMIK wouldn't add a benefit & the other iterations might squeeze out 1or 2% benefit.
As usual the techno/so-called experts over on AVS micro analysis everything to the Nth degree, making it more complicated than it needs to be!
A1 is a game changer vs Dirac.
Having several experiences with ART, in short, it only makes sense if ALL your speakers are reference.
I couldn't wait, I caved!
Did you use directional setting with your subs?
If not might want to give it a shot.
Works under the same theory as DLBC/ART.
If you do I suggest placing your subs on opposing walls.

I would have paid extra for the 4800 over the 3800 for those.
There is very little difference as is.
