If you want digital AND want another game you can go the Nintendo voucher route for the cheapest price.

$100 (#4 $25) Nintendo GC = $90 at Costco

Buy a set of vouchers for two Nintendo games for $100. Upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 version for $10

Final price $55

Or $45 for the Switch one version.

Check the Nintendo site for list of voucher eligible games. Keep in mind the program is ending and the date to utilize vouchers is coming up soonish.

The gameplay looks fun but everything else looks awful. Nintendo decided to follow the industry with this title. I'll pass on launch .

At least at my store they were all way gone before they dropped in price. But if you're going to buy it anyways since it's Costco you can always do a buy and return to get the clearance price if you get lucky.

Please daddy Nintendo! Charge me eighty dollars! Ninety dollars!
See this is the issue with these conversations.
  • People will initially make some ridiculous, provably false claims that make Nintendo look bad
    • The implication that this was not a cartridge and then the backtracking about cartridge manufacturing prices then and now was laughable
    • The implication that 32m hardware units sold globally were "poor sales", potentially even more laughable.
  • Folks will then say hey, that's wrong, video game prices have actually been dropping over the years.
    • Even the most popular system from that era (PS1 which sold 100m units), the most popular game FF7 released at $50, which would still be $100 today.
  • Then instead of making any sort of reasonable counter argument, people just hurl childish insults.
Y'all gotta stop. Seriously. It doesn't matter what Nintendo prices their systems at, it doesn't matter what Nintendo prices their games at or how few discounts they have. This is an entirely non-essential industry, it's not housing, it's not food, we're talking about video games. Video games that... have very clearly gotten more expensive to develop and cheaper to purchase over the years.

There are some real issues to find with Nintendo, how litigious they are against people simply showing their content through speed runs and reviews and stuff sure, but the babyish complaints about how they price their products is just not it.

(edit: actually the top selling ps1 game was Gran Turismo but it was still $50)

Only thing I've seen is some millennial coded humor in the game. Doubt that would sway anyone to or away

You waiting for handouts too? They are a company that has held their games to higher standards and with that has earned a fanbase. They give hours of entertainment and can almost always guarantee a hit when nintendo releases a game. Go elsewhere if you're worried about it.

I love Nintendo games, especially now as a father and a casual gamer, and I make enough money to not through a "corporations are bad" fit online about having to pay an extra $100 for a game system or $10 for a game. Stop complaining and keep it pushin Kings.

Can the switch 2 version be played on the switch 1?

Would it be smarter to get the switch 1 version and buy the additional upgrade pak for switch 2 so that the game is compatible with both consoles?
