I signed up with the link and can confirm it doesn't work on any device that isn't a fire tv device. Tried using it on my phone, browser, and LG tv and it doesn't work on any of them. Tried logging in directly through HBO and using prime as a service provider and got an error saying HBO can't verify my subscription.

Amazon and Roku have advertised that they will offer 12 months of HBO Max for $2.99 a month starting tomorrow. (The regular price is $10.99 a month.) A Hulu/Disney Plus bundle of $4.99 a month is also expected to be added on Monday. Paramount Plus will be reduced to $2.99 a month for two months starting on Tuesday.

No. I just signed up. An ad every 5 minutes or so. Ad lasts about one minute and ten seconds. Too short to do anything but sit there. They got wise knowing a long ad every 15 minutes gives you to time to do something else.

I thinking about canceling. I'm not paying $ 18.99 for ad free but every 5 minutes is maddening.
Canceling 2.99 or 18.99?

You probably have to view your subscription through the Amazon prime app. My wife has hallmark+ and we have to go through the prime app to watch it
Agree.
I was able to sign up via Prime Video while logged into our Prime account (browser & laptop)...
we had digital credits that they used to pay for the 1st month.
Then, we turned on our smart TV, went in through the Prime app, looked under "My Stuff" and the new HBO Max sub showed there.
No need for a Fire Stick or other 'device' (just the smart TV with the Prime app installed was sufficient).

So if you buy this thru Amazon, can you log in directly into hbomax without going thru Amazon prime app?
Wondering the same. I'd rather use the HBO app than go thru prime to find something

If you have no rush credits or expect to get some, it can be used to pay $2.99.

Would this be cheapest ever for them for annual? Streaming deals are mysteriously quiet this year. Maybe all waiting for the others to blink first?
Well I had it for $3 then it went up to $5 cancelled it earlier this year with ADs. Got $3month offer for year when I logged into my old cancelled account so no need to sign up thru fire device tho also did see same offer there LOL

It's only for Fire devices.
Just go through the hbomax site, sign up, and add any device. I just added my xfinity cable box with no issue. It even had reference through a QR where one could add their android or iPhone with an app. I don't see any limitation of adding another device like Onn or whatever -- just login on a computer, use the sign-in, and type in the code on the screen to the logged in computer/device.

I do not understand what I did or how it's working, but on my Onn TV streaming box, I signed up to HBO Max, through the Amazon prime account. So in Amazon Prime video I can access the HBO Max content.
Although on my phone, non of that content is working, nor can I log into HBO Max directly.
I also cannot find where they charged me. Or where I can cancel the subscription.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
I should have went directly to the HBO app and signed up.

This deal is CRAP, I subscribed, followed the directions then suddenly the subscription vanished from my account and Amazon now tell me my account was cancelled but they can't seem to tell me why and they can't seem to offer me the same $2.99 special either.

Did anyone else get their order cancelled and refunded on the 15th. When I chatted to complain one agent told me they have been having issues with this. He transferred me next agent said I cancelled. I told him nope. Then quoted the previous agent then I kept getting transferred from one agent to the next. So, I'm going to call Amazon this morning
