Can actually get a slightly slicker deal if you buy from their website and use student/vet/essential worker verification. Student one just requires .edu address for verification

Better off building your own with an old PC and running TrueNAS Community Edition.

I have been using QNAP TR-002 for quite some time. Works fine even with my 100MP GFX files when editing directly from my MAC M1 Studio Max. Cost me like $160 and that was like 6-7 yrs ago.

What would you recommend? I'd like a 4 (or more) drive solution but when I price out a DAS and a low power mini-pc the price comes out similar and the integration is not as nice. I don't want to "just use an old PC" because there hardware I have is obsolete and power hungry.
I have a few Dell Micro units and a D4-320. The modularity of how to use it all is a big plus over this unit. But of course, you have to put in some work.
Terramaster D4-320 is on sale, and if you get a used Tiny/Mini/Micro, you should be able to fit 6 drives (4 in the D4; M.2, and SSD in the pc). The price would be similar to this, but you'd get 4 drives and a much more powerful pc that is power efficient (just not as power efficient as the N100.

Appreciate you taking the time to reply.
I pulled the trigger on the DXP4800 Plus last night due to FOMO on the Paypal 4-payment offer; LOL. Not sure if I made the right decision but I don't know what mini-PC would be good for a NAS (and available) that would keep the all-in price below the DXP4800+ with the 20% rebate points.

Honestly, with all the stacked discounts, I think you did just fine! N100 is solid, especially with the iGPU. I have an N150 and its super low power but can transcode videos and do more, but I like being a bit hands on so I started with the Dell Micro, but I could easily see myself having gotten something like this a year or two ago.

It's pretty primitive at the moment, though it is being updated, but it is not nearly as polished or complete as DSM. It does most of the basic things pretty well, though. Under the hood, it's just Debian, so you can install native packages, and it has Docker for most everything else. Overall, I've been pretty satisfied with it.
How's the mobile support? I use Synology Drive to watch my videos and photos. Is there something similar with ugreen?

Ugreen break your disk. Don't buy their NAS. That's a low quality brand!

I bought an 8800 a few months ago during amazon prime day or whatever and only recently got around to setting it up. Put TrueNAS community edition (formerly scale) on it since I wanted ZFS1 raid format and ugoos still only does RAID1,5,10,etc.

Pretty happy so far, really easy to install, system is fast and quiet, i'm still copying all my media from my QNAP server but was extremely easy to install Plex, qBittorrent, Sonar, Radar, etc.

I put Truenas on a small nvme drive in the system and kept the ugoos system on its internal NVME (but disabled in bios) so I can revert to default if I ever need.

More bang for your buck. You can build a 4 Bay in JONSBO N2 for around $400, and it would have quadruple the memory, more powerful CPU, less power consumption and allows for expandability later.

Sigh, I love these posts...Quadruple the memory is 32gb. Have you looked at ram prices lately? 1/3 of this "$400 NAS" is going to RAM alone and you picked a $138 case, so you have about $115-140 for motherboard, cpu, cooler, power supply and a boot/OS drive.
We're also supposed to believe it will have a more powerful AND lower power consumption CPU than a 6W N100 (if referring to the 2-bay) or the Pentium Gold 8505 that is 15W to 55W at max Turbo power (for the 4-bay).
Ok.

Yes, they have UGREEN NAS app. It's basically an all in one. You can watch videos, look at photos, listen to music and it has a media app.
