I hike 3-4 days a week 5+ miles in New Mexico. I go through 2 pairs of these in the winter. These are the most comfortable, durable, light weight hikers with the best waterproofing I have found and I've tried them all. All the other fancy brands fall apart after literally 1 hike. In my opinion this is the best buy before you get into an expensive heavy boot.

And I thought I loved to hike. I do like these boots, they're durable and waterproof. Highly suggest people buy thick wool or wool blend socks because the boots are stiff. There is a tradeoff from comfort and durability with these so thick sox help balance the stiffness

Given this person can go through other brands in one HIKE, two pairs through one season does seem like an upgrade.

Do you hike 20+ miles per week like that poster does or know the type of terrain they put these shoes through or when they consider these hiking shoes ( more like high top trail shoes rather than hiking boots ) to be "gone through"?

If they routinely wear our hiking shoes in one hike then I'd guess it's pretty tough terrain these shoes may not even be designed for.

I would give them a 7-7.5/10 for comfort. They have slight cushion but aren't overly cushy which I guess is what you want to hiking.They are more comfortable than my more narrow under Armour waterproof boots.
